My mom passed in January of 1972. When my dad passed in December of 1998 I had the familiar task that we all eventually have of "going through everything in the house". During that process I found that my mom had saved these coins from the year I was born tied up in what I can only assume to be a handkerchief used to wipe my face (as depicted in the scene on the cloth).

A half dollar, a quarter, a dime, a nickel, and a penny only add up to 91 cents....but to me they are priceless.

Dan,

Thanks for the kind words. I'd guess that the Borden baby feeding frenzy scene played out in many kitchens in those prehistoric times.

I did not reply sooner because I didn't think it was prudent to discuss an entry while the voting was still happening.
