Rod, well done on these! Excellent street photography.
I can see that the X-half is struggling with noise in the conditions, but this gives the photos an old school feel that works, at least for most of them.

Maybe she was in NYC as one of the Thai dancers with long fingernails performing the "Fawn Leb" or Fingernail Dance, a traditional Northern Thai style from Chiang Mai?
While serving in Vietnam, the Vietnamese do not have a traditional fingernail dance, long fingernails carry a cultural significance related to wealth and status. But the woman's nails were never this "dagger like" if I remember correctly..
