I honestly think that the photographic industry is becoming deadly boring, with cameras that are almost identical in specifications and generally quite ugly.
I have the feeling that a monochrome xpro 4 (or a Q3 under 4,000 euros with a 35 or 50mm fixed focal length) would be much more exciting than the umpteenth revision of models that always look the same.
Does an improved autofocus make better studio sessions by itself? I did one photo shoot in Wetzlar during the presentation of the new Leica M6 with an M-A: nobody was scared to death and the model's eye was always in focus.

If 8k is important to you whenever you upgrade, make sure to watch some reviews of it. Jordan at DPTV shows that the handheld 8k/24 looks like you're shooting through a wobbling bowl of Jello.

How do we get Sony, Canon, and Nikon to put half as much TLC into their body designs/aesthetics as Hasselblad?

Exactly what pizzazz do you want and how much better will your photos be with this pizzazz?

It's possible Sony throws more computational/software processing at the files in camera with the new chips, at least for JPEG, that might make the sensor appear improved over the the Riv, but so far it sounds like the sensor itself is the exact same.
I agree about the burst rate and readout speed...simply laughable for the price point.
The more I ponder this camera, the more confused I am.
If all you really need is a landscape/portrait camera, any camera since the Rii will work, with advantage to the Rii/Riii in IQ.
The Riii is capable enough to be the things that the Rv is supposed to excel at, and there are numerous other cameras in this space with other brands that also fulfill this space at half the cost.
The main benefits are quality of life vs actual day to day functionality....Show more →
I agree 100% with this. I see no reason to upgrade from RIII to RV with that price tag. It's pretty much priced like an used A1 here, which seems like a way bigger upgrade over my RIII than the new RV. Heck, even the 2 years old or so Canon R5 seems better in many things than the RV, which is kinda shocking for me(not that i would switch to Canon, just an observation).

Looking forward to more in-depth reviews of this camera. The YouTube guys are cool but a lot of that is "access journalism." I don't really look to many of those individuals as stellar craftsman either, so the coverage doesn't do a lot for me either way. I loved reading Albert's rundown. He could make stellar images with a pinhole camera, but it was still nice to read his thoughts.

I just thought you would appreciate some “pretty” looking cameras.

I like a lot of things about the A7RV over my A7RIV but these are such mature products now that I’m thinking the money would be better spent elsewhere (grab a few stocks at current prices?). There’s no must-have, love-to-have-it for me in the A7RV.
Instead, I satiated my GAS today by buying a like new condition used A7C at my local camera shop at a steal of a price. I’ve been curious about it and I could sell this in a few months and consider it a free or pretty cheap rental, or temporary diversion from the A7RV until they hit the secondary market and cheapen up.

Looks like a really nice evolutionary upgrade and the rear screen looks very interesting. The body got a bit bigger which I know people have been asking for. I don't track the rumors much but I was expecting an around ~90mp FF sensor coming in the a7R series but maybe that would have made it slower than they wanted with fps, sensor readout and possibly other areas.
Did they really not have Bulb mode until now or am I misinterpreting that feature?

There are no boring cameras, only boring photographers.
