A pretty common bird, I know, but they're very animated and fun to shoot. If you're willing to wait them out they'll usually give you something. This one from Baldwin Lake at the LA Arboretum. Same bird, I believe, two different days. At least 3 or 4 times, a single or a couple other photographers would appear behind me as I was sitting focused on the bird just perched on the branch. They'd stay there for three or four minutes and then quickly get bored and move on. But if the bird gets comfortable enough they'll relax and go about their business. Thanks for looking !
Gary
Super set Gary, they are one of my fave's as well.
Love what you do, and you will do it well... you make this an axiom with your Greenies.
I can't tell you how many times I've had people look over my shoulder when I'm shooting, then they wonder what the heck I find so interesting, only to have that awkward moment where they finally shuffle their feet and move on.
Normal people are so boring.

I usually just act really bored myself, like, nothing to see here, just so they'll go away. Not that I have anything against people, it's just that, with the rare exception, I don't like them
Appreciated Eric
Amazing set of image Gary, the Green Heron will indeed put on a show for you if you have the patience to sit still for a while. You caught some beauties.

Great set Gary
I have to go to LA Arboretum again, it's been a while. Maybe I can talk my sister into going when she visits in March.
Great set and there's so many different birds there it's really a fun visit
Lil
Thanks Lil. I've kept a membership there for three years now, even though I live across the country. Great spot just for a walk. And their BLT with Avocado at the cafe is delicious
Excellent images of on of my faverate Gary. It's great that the other photographers did not disturb your shoot. You caught many of the classic behaviours in this set.

At some point all these subjects become somewhat 'common' more for some than others and for some a rarity to see
It's the 'photographic and creative' aspect that makes them enjoyable IMO, not just the subject but the BG, colors and lighting that make them 'less common'
Nice looks and takes Gary, the one on the branch is my favorite
