Based on some reports, depending on where you ordered it, an order today or yesterday may see a 6 month wait.
I hope that's not the case and Fuji planned better for this launch. People like to spread FUD on the internet, but we are not in the middle of pandemic anymore with chip shortages and all that other nonsense. Also, I expect assembly line to be much more efficient in China. If Apple can fulfill huge demands for iPhones every year within a month or two, there is no reason for Fuji to take 6 months for a much shorter waitlist, but for some reason if it actually takes Fuji 6 months to meet the current demand, there is a pretty significant chance that a lot of people, including me, will get bored and move on with something else.
Almost all major resellers are stil accepting orders, which wasn't the case with X100V, so I think it will not be as bad. Regardless, we all are guessing at this point and there is no way for me to go back in time and pre-order it on day one, so it is what it is.

Yeah, I hope you're right. I ordered from my local store the morning of launch, though it was late morning, so I'm certainly not at the head of the list. I've had good success, though, in ordering high demand items from there where there are long lines at places like B&H. I'm hoping I get mine within the first month or so.
Fuji have said their capacity at the China plant is double that of what was there for the X100V, but still quoted a figure of just 15,000 per month. I'm sure they have a few months buildup of inventory before launch, but even if they have 60,000 cameras ready to ship, that's only going to satisfy a smallish amount of the pre-order list. (the half-million preorders number isn't a hard number, as it includes a huge number of 'lottery' entries).

It’s in Fuji's interest to manage demand for a hit product like Leica does for the Leica q3 to maximize profitability and interest. Eg if the day one demand is 200k units, They should fulfill 50k max to keep interest up. Not consumer friendly but how you run a business

Unfortunately the real numbers are way higher than that in terms of demand and way lower in terms of monthly supply replenishment.
I suspect that, again just like the V, one of the best strategies will be to buy directly from Fuji (how I got my V so easily in the middle of it being "sold out"). Fuji will allocate themselves a small portion of every monthly output for direct sale on a first come basis.

If you were not on a pre-pre-order list, your odds of seeing this camera within the next three months even is probably slim.
Anybody who hasn’t put an order in yet is completely out of luck.
I got in on Popflash's first batch even several days after the preorders went live. Their website says their second batch will arrive March, and they are still accepting orders for that.
A lot of these camera companies learned a lot from Apple in their early days of iPhone sales. Hard to get, lines around the block 24 hours prior, always a story on every local news outlet.
Needed to satisfy my itch, so called B&H. Shipments go out 2/28, expedited, so 99% should be FedEx. They said first batch is 800 units. I ordered black, so not sure if they meant they had 800 black, or 800 total. I got my order in way early, so I should get a shipment notification tomorrow.

Yea I pre-ordered from BH photo 3 minutes after launch-
Status is still showing New-Order
If your order status is New-Order you should be good. I ordered one minutes after. I ordered one more for a friend a few days after. The first order shows New-Order and should be filled tomorrow. The other order shows Backordered.
I also ordered within 2 minutes of launch via B&H and it still shows back ordered.
