Besides experience, it's the distraction too. Imagine you are setting up a shot and right before you take a shot, you get a phone call taking you away from the moment. Or, imagine you are recording a video and you get a phone call. I see a phone as a companion to the main camera but it would never replace my main camera for me.
Did you know that you can turn the phone off? :-)
But I agree with you that I don't currently see a phone being a replacement for the cameras I use for most of my photography. It is a sometimes-useful adjunct, and every so often it can be used to make "real" photographs in a pinch.

Of course I can turn it off but then that defeats the main purpose of the phone.
Anybody been getting shipping updates lately? Over the past few weeks it seems things have slowed down... I have a pre-order at 3 places (bh, Camerawest, and a local store)... my local store hasn't received any yet and haven't heard anything from my other preorders.

This is latest from B&H in an email sent on 3/28. Note, that I ordered at 2:04 am on release day.
"In our email from a couple of weeks ago, we shared that the demand for the Fujifilm X100VI is very high, and Fujifilm’s supply is extremely limited. We have just received an updated shipping schedule from Fujifilm.
Originally, based on the information we had been provided, we expected to ship your order to you by the end of March. As a result of a delayed shipment, we now expect to ship your order in mid-April.
Your place in the queue for the camera has not changed. Please understand that this revised shipping schedule remains subject to change.
We will send you an email if there are any updates. Once your order ships you will receive an email with the tracking information. If you have any questions, please email us at orderinfo@bhphoto.com.
We apologize for the delay and schedule change. Please accept our sincere commitment that we are working hard to get your camera to you as quickly as possible.
Just got a shipping notification from B&H.... With any luck FedEx will actually get the package on a truck in the morning and should be here before the w/e.
B&H Order @2:30am - Silver. I got the same email above for mid-April date.
Hope some others get some movement on their order.

Just got my B&H shipping email for my Silver copy ordered about the same time - scheduled for delivery tomorrow, Fri, 3/12

My B&H preorder is dated at 10:00am on 2/20/24. I hope I get the camera before Christmas!
It's clear that Fujifilm has made another mistake. Whatever their current excuse may be, this is unacceptable and only results in price gouging. Shifting production to China hasn't resolved the problem; it has merely increased their production profits. Although they are selling less cameras so I don't see an advantage for Fuji.
Also, some people desire the camera simply because it's hard to get, as if it's a sacred grail of cameras...

The urge to scalp my copy is nearly overwhelming...if only I could find someone to straight trade me a GFX 100S for it

I am still surprised that Fujifilm has not officially announced the "Orders Greatly Exceed Our Plan" like they have done in the past.
It is what it is with demand outpacing supply. PS5’s during the pandemic, GPUs (still can’t buy a 4090), and now all the pearl clutching because TikTok paid attention to a camera lol.
It’s nothing new, maybe a new phenomenon to some of you, but it’s nothing new.
We've known since before the launch what Fuji's monthly production was going to be, and what the preorder demand was. If you thought this wasn't going to happen, you weren't paying attention.
I have a few friends who are NOT photographers but felt compelled to pick up an X100VI, some even paying resell prices so they could have it now. This camera has crossed over in a way I can't believe.

There's no way to know the cause of the problem and if Fuji had a role in it.

How do they know what preorder demand is going to be for a new camera? Before it's posted for sale?
