The reason for the umbrella. I grabbed some footage using the 7K 3:2 aspect ratio for the first time. I used the 100-300mm with the 2x extender. It was a nice break from all the shoveling snow today.

This is the way I shot my American Golden Plover video in rain this Fall - only hand held (the umbrella, that is!)
Rudy
I've seen many DIY version of umbrellas for rain and shade, and I've personally used one on a boat in Indonesia for shade, but there's a company that actually makes a wearable version for the rain.

Rob,
Looks good. Due to the poor weather, I would guess, does not look as good as your 4k postings lately. But still, very good. The song sounds like you had it recorded for this video!

Thanks for the honest input Dave. The weather was terrible and lighting was as flat as could be. Personally I will not use this much. I prefer the 4K 120 slow and fast setting on this camera for what I like to shoot. I just like testing all the modes so I know a bit more about the camera. I also like pushing the extremes so I know how something will perform with something worthwhile. As far as the song, I did make it for this video with AI.

Holy cow! Another thing I did not know much about. Making a song with AI for your video. That is really kind of cool in a strange way, !

Some footage today from our yard. Mom had three of her young with her. I used the C50 with the RF 100-300mm + 2x. All handheld with Digital IS on also.

I love it Rob!
Did you create the song as well? If so, did you use Suno AI Music?
All so well done.

This is my "Sick-of-Winter Cabin-Fever Blues" video I call Ducks at Watson's Mill
I don't know about you folks down there in the States or over in Europe, but up here in Ottawa, Canada winter has finally got the better of me. In fact, it's driving me absolutely NUTS!!! This year has been brutal. For an old photo-video guy like me the weather has been so crappy for so long (ultra-freezing cold temps and endless overcast skies) that's it downright depressing.
So today I got tired of waiting for some warmer weather and decent light and I just went out and filmed in terrible conditions. But I had a fun time because I finally got started practicing shooting in C-log3 in a location other than my office or my living room. I've been chomping at the bit for weeks to get at this new part of my videography and just couldn't wait any longer. So here it is. All I had with me were my RF 50/1.8 and RF 16/2.8 . There's not much to this little video, but it's a start. I'm really enjoying learning how to shoot C-log3 and process log footage in Davinci Resolve. With my R5 I can't get 10-bit 4:2:2 files unless I shoot in log so this is why I've decide to give it a serious go. I'm also enjoying using my new Rode VideoMic Pro which recorded the river sounds.

Same here Rudy, it has been cold with about 18" of snow in most places. Tough to do much. I went out for Eagles yesterday it was -3 degrees. I found one but did not really do much than flew off.
Loved the duck going into the rapids, it swept him away quickly. Beautiful building with the water, mic sounds great. Glad you made it out, that is what it is all about. I used Clog 2 myself yesterday with the deer.

Looks nice Rudy. The audio was very good. Looks like a neat location to hang out at year round.

Hi Rob,
Question: Since the built-in video Picture Profiles in the C50, like in the R5ii, produce high-quality 10-bit 4:2:2 files, why would you bother with all the hassle of shooting log footage?

Hi Dave,
Funny you should mention that this looks like a neat location to hang out all year round. You are correct. I have gone to this spot throughout the four season for over 15 years.
Here's a video I shot inside and outside this Mill which is about 15 minutes from our house. I shot it 14 years ago with my first Canon Pro FX100 video camera back in the day when my wife and I had a small digital design business and I did videos for some of our clients. The FX100 was rated broadcast quality and produced wonderful 10-bit 4:2:2 files, mind back then things were HD. In this video I was trying to create a cinematic "film" look using the a commercial gimbal I bought plus I built a big floor-based rail camera slider which I used a lot in this video.

A very good question. I am not seeing the real benefit myself. The biggest reason could be the base ISO changes. You get only 400/3200 but in Clog you get 800/6400. Personally I am just playing with it to learn the camera myself since it is my first Cinema camera.

From this cold morning. Sorry about the micro jitters in the bald eagle shots, I let my IS on which I believe caused it. My fingers were so cold I had trouble feeling the record button to start recordings, not fun. Really not much around but fun getting out either way.
