Thanks.
This was the first time, out of maybe 40 times seeing the wild horses, that they were doing something other than eating.
The lighter brown stallion was maybe trying to take over, but the lead stallion (a white horse) wasn't having it.
A friend and I watched (and kind of became part of) this attempt.
As the white stallion would drive him off, he would run 75 yards straight at us.
At one point, I was photographing him as he ran right at me. I stood still, photographing him as he ran by about 15 feet away,
My friend asked what I was doing, I said, I'm photographing my murderer.

Thanks guys.
Bravery had nothing to do with it.
There's no way my old tired ass was going to out run these guys, and there was nothing around to hide behind.
I figured if I stood still, they'd rather go around me than through me, and luckily, I was right.
Plus if I moved, I'd probably be unlucky enough to step right in front of them.

Interesting. Don’t think I’ve seen a baby coot before
Thanks for sharing Joshua!
Thank you, Robert! Someone I came across while shooting told me about baby coots being so "ugly" that they are "adorable". I saw both adult first and then I spotted the chick. And that guy was right. Too bad I couldn't change my position, as I would like to have taken those pictures from a lower angle... Oh, well.
