p.1 #1 · Nature and Wildlife image thread - a Sequel

With the introduction of the new and pretty much wildlife-oriented Sony 400-800mm lens and Sigma 300mm-600mm lens, I am pretty confident that there will be enough interest to find home for wildlife and nature images taken using those lenses. However, creating another image thread in this forum using a certain type of lenses at this juncture seems to be superfluous. Therefore, a theme-based image thread makes more sense. There was a wildlife and nature image thread here previously but it didn't get enough traction and it succumbed to a slow death after a while. I hope that the sequel here doesn't experience the same fate as the other one.

All images taken with any lens are welcome here as long as the theme adheres to "Nature and Wildlife". The lens used doesn't have to be a Sony-branded lens, the images can be captured using a Sigma or Tamron or whatever brand and of any focal length, as long as the camera used is Sony, please post them here. Furthermore, there is no format restriction here; full frame or APS-C format images are just fine.

Here are a few of mine to get this thread started while waiting for the lens to be available in less than 2 weeks. Please share your Nature and Wildlife images, and enjoy the images posted by your fellow photography enthusiasts' FMers and happy shooting!

Isn't there a forum dedicated to Nature and Wildlife photos? I think it's called the "Nature & Wildlife" forum.

There is, but there is also a People forum and a People photography thread within the Sony Forum. I think a Wildlife thread within the Sory Forum could make sense if people focused on Sony gear for the thread within the Sony Forum. I think the People thread works and Joshua is a frequent contributor to that thread.

Well, Steve beats me to it... Thank you, Steve @Steve Spencer!

Dave, this is a thread within the Sony forum, where nature and wildlife enthusiasts can share their images taken solely using Sony cameras, unlike threads in the Nature & Wildlife forum.

Thanks for starting this thread, Joshua. I know there is a Nature and Wildlife forum but for some reason I don't frequent the forum often enough, great and talented folks there though. I haven't shot wildlife lately other than some boring hooded mergansers. With osprey and bald eagle season coming, hopefully I can contribute soon.

What a fun coincidence, I was looking for the "mother" of this thread a week ago as I posted the first batch of Bullfinches in Sony FE thread and thought this would be a great home for them, but I figured the thread died as you all shoot 200-600mm G lenses or the 600 GM and ofcourse using the appropriate threads

So here a few more Bullfinches shot with a7RIVa and the Tamron 150-500mm... :-)

Waiting...

Loaded up...

Looking for a mate...

Godspeed to this thread...

Cheers, A.

Here's one of my favorite shots from last spring. A common grackle in the snow (A7RV, Sony 200-600 at 600).
