good tones and colors to show the layering in #1. the distant layers look almost like large waves coming in. also like the colors in #2. all in all, two nice pictures. thanks for sharing.
Maybe too much of sky in each ? Reducing the sky to a very narrow band could help to stay focused on and explore the land instead of being pulled into the very bright and relatively featureless area

Great point. I played with this as an option, and at least for me the perception was different full size on a 32" screen vs the reduced size on the web. I will go re-evaluate.
