thanks Vento for the clarifaction and summary and the links regarding Z5II and Z6II.
So Z6 and Z7 give you the option to dial in the lens specification, but doesn't save it, so it's pretty pointless. I guess it works well with all the F lenseson FTZ (and Zeiss ZF seems to behave like an F lens).
Getting the name of the lens in the exif is nice, expecially if you have several nonCPU lenses.
The workaround to set the aperture in ZF is mostly useless I guess, I would be reluctant to do this every time I change aperture.
I guess we all keep hoping for a version of the Simera with contacts.

I wouldn't call it pointless.
The essential feature of the non-CPU setting is the ability to ensure 3-axis IBIS for any lens, even non-CPU ones.
This means I have the benefit of IBIS with every one of my vintage lenses, even my dad's M42 lenses from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Even when I attach one of my Rollei 90mm f/2.4 Heidosmat lenses, without aperture mechanism (i.e., constant f/2.4), which is actually one of two lenses for a Rollei Twin slide crossfade projector.
Things like focal length, maximum aperture in the EXIF data, or the lens name are nice to have, convenience features, but what counts is the IBIS function, and that's guaranteed even with the Gen1 bodies.
What bothers me more than missing focal length, maximum aperture, or the lens name in the EXIF data is the lack of the actual aperture used/working aperture.
I already know which lens I used, what it’s called, and what its maximum aperture is.
It's nice to have that listed in the EXIF data, but ultimately it's not really important.
But what’s definitely missing is the aperture I actually used—I definitely can’t remember that in detail anymore.
That’s actually what bothers me the most about non-CPU lenses.
But in that regard, the newer Z camera bodies are no different from the Gen 1 bodies.

I agree, thats also what I would want most urgently, plus the green focus confirmation.
That doesn't work with ZF either for the Simera, does it?

No, for focus confirmation, indicated by the green frame of the focus box, communication between the lens and camera is required.
As far as I know, there are indirect workarounds using a smart M-to-Z adapter, such as the one offered by Techart.
For this, however, you need the M-mount version of a lens, which can then be adapted to Z-mount bodies via a smart adapter like Techart AF M to Z.
But I don't have any experience with this, so other users would have to weigh in on that.

I received a copy of this lens this morning and had the chance to take a few snapshots around the office and later in my neighborhood.
I’m very impressed with the image quality of this lens, even wide open it's sharp, has low distortion, and shows no purple fringing at all.

I travelled to London and Paris with 5 lenses, the Thypoch 28mm was the most used in this trip. It is very light and easy to focus on my Z6.
How would you rate its overall performance, especially when compared to other lenses (e.g., the Voigtlanders)?
Thanx.

I am very surprised by the build quality and the image quality of this lens. Compared to my 21mm f/1.4 and 40mm f/1.2 Voigtländers, the Thypoch is just as sharp, shows no chromatic aberration, and has more manageable barrel distortion than the Voigtländers.

Rich, I don't get focus confirmation with my Nikon Z6 , I understand it is a feature only with the Zf, I use only focus peaking and magnification, it works great, very accurate.
