I traveled from the Eastern U.S. to Canada last week in search of Snowy Owls. While Snowies proved elusive, the trip delivered an nice surprise: a pair of active Barred Owls hunting as a snowstorm rolled in. These images were captured during that brief, intense window when light, snow, and behavior all aligned.

I find the Barred owl is kinda plain compared to other owls but you did an awesome job capturing and presenting / processing these images. Amazing work! You got my vote.
The barred owl has never looked better...
1, 3, 7 and the next to the last are my pick from this exciting set Jeff. The snowy owls have been hard to spot this year yet I know there out there as I know others that have seen them on Long Island's South Shore.
Thank you Pius for the comments. I appreciate them. Actually heard a vole digging through the snow/leaf litter next to me. So did the owl, he pounced on it n. Cool experience to have one land so close

Thank you, no mice/bait was used. Winter storm was approaching and both were very active. They caught 3 moles/moles while I watched them over a 1-2 hour time frame

These are truly stunning, especially the one where he's right above you! Did you use some mice to entice him?
Some fine looking Barred owl shots. I agree with the comments about them not getting the love some other owls do. I still enjoy them. Maybe some more posts like yours will raise their desirability. Great job with these. Voted
