I start my graduate anesthesia program in two months, and just got my shiny new .edu email address. Someone remind me, is it a good idea or a great idea to spend $1700 right before 3 years of living like a student again?
Still use my .edu email address but no longer an active student so cant make use of this. Nice of B&H to do this.
They also probably still do this below as well but not sure. When I ran the photo staff for my college newspaper and yearbook B&H gave us a yearly allowance with them which we used to purchase camera equipment and film/chemicals for the year. They did this with a lot of college photography programs.

It is a terribly, wonderful idea. What's $1700 against the many tens of thousands the program will cost you, hmm?
Thanks for posting. I teach college part-time. Anyone have thoughts on the DX lenses for the Z50II? I don't see much on DX in the forum and the small size of the Z50II would work well for work travel or bike trips.

I was actually impressed by the two kit zooms (16-50 and 50-250), they punch well over their weight, and that weight is almost nothing compared to full frame options.
The new 16-50/2.8 seems like a total winner too, but I haven't tried it personally.

Agreed -- they're pretty great for a compact travel kit.

Ever tried the Z50 II with the Z 14-30 and 24-120? I already own those.
I used the 24-120 on the Z50 and the results are just what you'd expect...excellent. It's all about the lens. The focal range utility isn't as great once in DX though, IMO, but kind of depends on what you're after.
The DX 16-50 kit zoom looks like a dud on paper. I got one as part of Z30 kit, thinking I'd sell it for something nicer, but I'm keeping it. It is surprisingly good, even before considering it's basically a pancake.
