p.1 #1 · Hooded Orioles at the Far Northern End of Range in California
I was thrilled to even see them. let alone try and get a picture. The pair were darting all over the place in late afternoon overcast light and hiding in old blackberry vines, which sadly is not a very interesting setting. It is what it is...
A neighbor has an ornamental palm tree which is probably the reason they are here. The Cornell Lab says Arcata, CA is the northern most location known (as of 2017) and that is exactly where I live.
A friend joined me in looking for them as my old eyes could barely make them out some 87 feet away.
Both images using Nikon Z8 and Z 100-400 lens and 2.0 Viltrox TC. 45MP cropped DOWN to between 3-4MP, then super-rezzed. So not the sharpest but I am still very pleased nonetheless! A real treat for me...

Thank you very much Douglas.
Just a footnote on the 800mm with the 2.0 TC. I hope I will have a second chance hopefully because I failed to make an exposure just one stop down, where sharpness is much much improved, based on some further trials!
