It contained a chiller bag for medications that need to be refrigerated, so nothing was damaged. I’m just impressed they were able to ding it up that much in the short time it took to ship it fifteen miles.
I first posted these photos in 2015 (Ref. below). The rather large lens in the box was undamaged. Whatever hit it, must have bounced. It was chock full of bubble wrap (good thing, too).
If I understand it correctly - FedEx employees work for private contractors and are paid piece meal. UPS is union and the workers are paid hourly. I am sure that both are stressful, but I've definitely had more issue with FedEx doing a chuck-it-n-run or pretend-to-ring-the call-button-but-actually-made-no-effort-to-deliver.
