p.1 #1 · portable flooring for on location 'studio like' shots?
I need to setup a background to shoot full body photos for groups of around 6-8 people. The location is a hotel room with thick carpet. I don't think my paper or cloth backdrop on the floor will work. What is the best way to get some fake hardwood/concrete looking flooring on carpet for the subjects to stand on? Something portable I can easily setup and disassemble, and move back to a sedan trunk? Maybe something like a mini portable dance floor? Hoping not to spend more than 200 as its a one time thing.

I used to use a sheet of 4x8 white Malemine (sp) paneling on the floor to protect white background paper in the studio. Perhaps you could find 3-4 sheets of sturdy paneling (wide enough to cover "the set") to use? Although, if you will be using chairs for posing, the legs of the chairs might poke through the paneling. But maybe not if you're careful. Transporting the sheets of paneling to and from the location might present a problem though.

Click-together vinyl tile flooring. That could look good and you should be able to ‘unclick’ it when you’re done. Should be easy to transport. Much easier than a 4x8 panel of melamine. But that melamine would work nicely and be inexpensive.

Maybe cut the panels and tape back together so the tape acts as a hinge and allows them to fold up and actually fit inside a sedan? If buying from someplace like Home Depot, you can get them cut there so you can fit them in the car to take home and tape back together.

When placed on top of thick carpeting, I don't think any of these ideas is going to work well.
Have you talked to the hotel management about possibly their portable dance floor? They may already have something that you could just rent from them. You wouldn't need to carry, move, or store it after this photo shoot, so it may be a better deal all the way around for you. Moving a lot of heavy wood panels just doesn't seem like fun to me. For photo shoots, I always try to rent props (floors, etc) when I can, so when the shoot is done, I can pack my camera gear and go home. I let the renter have all the problems with it and just add the rent charges to the final bill. Travel expenses (for me and assistant) get added too.
