I'm shocked that Panasonic actually released a camera that people want. Good video modes... has an EVF... latest sensor... The fixed-lens may not be for everyone, but it seems to be a solid camera to me. Thoughts?
It looks very solid to me, especially giving it the bigger battery. That GH7/G9II sensor is very good and I'm happy with the output from my GH7. So if this is 95% as good as the G9II/GH7 it will be a great for those that want this style of camera.
For me, I probably won't buy it because it kinda falls in that no mans land of size for me, same as the Leica Q3/ Fuji X100/ Pana S9. It's big enough that I have to take a bag and if I'm taking a bag, my Peak Design 3L sling can hold my OM-1.2 with a 17 1.2 and 75 1.8 or my OM-1.2 8-25 and 25 1.4. So while all of that is bigger and heavier, if I'm taking a bag, I don't really mind. I still really only see the Ricoh GRIII/IV as a true pocketable camera.

Seems to be a solid upgrade from LX100 II. Personally not looking for a fixed-lens camera but the L10 has a lot I am hoping to see in a GX10.
No kidding!
I was seriously thinking of getting an OM-3 but holding back since it's just not a rangefinder style. Then crazy thoughts of ditching my m43 gear and getting a Sony A7Cii. Nothing wrong with that, but then I'd have to start from scratch on lenses.
If Panny released a GX10 with similar specs, I'd be all over that.
Edited to add: I was musing whether OM System's "head's up" to the m43 community about a new PEN was a wake-up call for Panny. If so, I sure hope that spurs their version of a PEN-rival into the works.
For me, however, I think I'll stick with my Leica D-Lux 8, which I mostly bought for the fast lens (same one as in the L10) and the Leica Q-style menu system. The extras the L10 offers don't really matter for me for what I use this type of camera for. Plus, I bought the Leica used when the price was still fairly reasonable, so I feel I got decent value for my money.
Finally, Olympus still needs an updated Pen F. That's still the small MFT camera I'm waiting for, just about the only camera I'm waiting for in fact.

Not for me because of the power zoom.
I don't love power zooms either, but I did see on one video you can set the 3 position switch on the lens to preset focal lengths like 35/50/75 or 28/40/60, whatever you like. The lens will even go to the position that the switch is in when you power it on.
I do like that feature and it would get rid of one of my major grips with power zooms is they usually default to the widest end when you turn the camera on.
That is a cool feature to be able to preset the focal lengths.
One thing not many are talking about is the size... it's big for a M43 camera... it's the same size as the Full Frame Lumix S9 and shares the same battery!
I think I see where Panasonic is going with this...They're reducing their costs by using the same bodies on multiple cameras... and now they're overlapping FF-cameras with M43-cameras. Pretty interesting... I own an S9 and while it might be small for a FF camera, I'd say it's big for an M43.
I'm hoping we can see something like a GX10 ILC camera... with a mic input... that would be awesome.

I think the sensor/ibis unit in the GH7/G9II is also physically larger so that probably adds to the reasons for sharing bodies and chassis parts between camera families.
Personally I actually like that it has the bigger battery and I don’t mind the size all that much since I have larger hands. Back in the day I preferred Canon’s G10/G11 P&S cameras which were larger than most. But I also understand that some prefer as small as possible too.
That's a good perspective about the hand size. I don't have large hands and prefer smaller cameras (for portability) as I enjoy taking them on vacation. I bought the LX 100 II few years ago and am very pleased with it. It's the perfect size for my needs.

I saw that video too. While he has some points, he also glosses over others.
I don't love videos where someone is just trying to prove a point and leaves out things to justify that. I haven't handled a L10, but I do own a GH7 that is almost exclusively for corporate training videos. However, I put the GH7 through its photo paces when I first got it and that sensor and the newer Panasonic colors are excellent. If you like B&W, the L-Mono profile is outstanding. My first thought was how great it would be if this sensor was in a more photo centric body and the L10 does that. My hope would be for a rangefinder styled body with m43 mount and this sensor.
I think you're right - just as they did with the G9ii in the S5 body. If they would add an EVF to the S9 it could be a big seller, but the lenses are still too big for that body. Even better would be a m4/3 ILC in the S9/L10 body size with the EVF. This would probably be roughly equivalent to the GX8, which never had a real successor.
It looks like a good update if you like the Panasonic control systems. I could use them, but their over-customizability, for me anyway, got in my way more than Olympus/OM does. Much prefer the D-Lux 8 control setup over the LX100 I had.
But my biggest issue has always been the zoom; I wish it were a manual zoom. Also, not sure why they replaced the SS with a mode dial.
