I picked up the glossy black version and am just blown away with how it looks on my glossy m11. Needless to say, the bokeh out of this lens will give the noctilux a run for its money. Absolutely love it !!!!!
Here are a couple of snape to show off the bokeh.
And considering this is not a modern optical formula it is very very sharp.

I have the silver one and I use it with the Safari M11. My experience matches yours—a very nice lens! Great image quality and I really like its construction.

There was some discussion about this lens when it was announced and released. This link compares some images against the Lux ASPH but might be worthwhile reading the thread: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1860074/5#16788693
The verdict about this lens really seems to depend on each photographer's expectations of what the Classic was supposed to be to them. Some hoped for a pre-ASPH v2 replica, but the Classic isn't this in the way the 35 Lux SRR was quite faithful to the original pre-ASPH. The Classic leans much closer to the Lux ASPH in respect to overall look and performance. In this respect, if you're referring to the 0.95 Noctilux, bokeh quality will be quite similar.

That black on black is a very good looking combo. Do you find yourself shooting w/o the hood attached? I was close to choosing this over the current 50 Lux CF. How do you feel about those two lenses? If I remember right, you own both now. And seem to be impressed by both as well.

I owned both the CF version and the Classic Re-Issue. They are very, very similar.
I ultimately sold the Re-Issue. It is a beautiful lens, but in my opinion, the rendering is too similar to justify owning both unless you specifically want a different aesthetic, such as the black-paint finish and classic styling.
If you want something with a more distinctive vintage rendering that feels noticeably different from the Lux ASPH or the Re-Issue, I think the Lux Pre-ASPH V3 is the better buy.
I also found the hood design on the Re-Issue to be less user-friendly than I would have liked.
I believe there is a link above to some comparison shots I took with both lenses. The differences are subtle, and either way, it is a beautiful lens

Thank you for sharing. I agree. If I was put in a situation with the choice of this classic (the hood is a little over the top if I’m being honest) vs the Lux Pre-ASPH V3 with its current asking price, I’d learn towards the latter. Just personal preference as well.
Ultimately I enjoy details, probably my OCD, so I went with the close focus ability of the 50 lux knowing that I had had spent years looking at others pictures with lenses of all types. It turned out to be more daunting than I expected. But the attached hood and the way it operates and the focus tab create a mechanical connection that allows the camera to work with me better and I seem to produce photos that I’m happier about afterwards with less editing. Win win.
All that said, I’m happier than a pig in…with my 50 lux. I made the best decision for myself. It’s the most satisfying lens I have bought because of the results it produces and how it handles. Followed by looks. It looks incredible. We all care a bit about this part as well.

With considered composition and framing, this modern non aspherical Summilux produces really good images. However, the corner field curvature and foreground bokeh are embarrassingly bad, so care needs to be taken to avoid detail falling into those zones.
Compared to ASPH lens, the focus ring is buttery smooth, and flare control far better.

so here is the low down
I sold my silver copy of the CF 50 lux. Great lens. But didn't look good on the glossy black m11. But that's just my opinion. people like different things.
I shoot with the hood on. mainly for protection. Not much sunlight out here in the pacific northwest. so the hood is rarely needed for the light. Also, the hood just adds a little more bling to the setup. Makes it look even more vintage.
Based on the Asph vs Non Asph versions on the 50 lux, I am not one that is bothered by fringing too much since I normaly convert to B&W or if the fringing is bad, I just click a button on PhotoLab and its gone. If you look at my previous posts or reviews, it is obvious that Have a personal preference towards glass that delivers biting clinically sharp images. Having said that, on paper the 50 Lux Asph, close focus is supposed to be sharper. However, I just don's see it. They both seem to be on the same playing field.
Look at this shot wide open or maybe 1.8 with my new black beauty focused on the center leaves right in the middle of the frame. Nothing to complain about from my end.
