Hi all, I'm new to these forums and new to photography in general having relied on just my phone for many years. Do you have a list of creators or people you like to watch for developing the basics or do you prefer more of a "get out there" and start shooting attitude? I would have already pursued the latter, but I am currently sidelined with a calf strain I got after playing pickleball too hard. I'm itching to get started actually using my a6700, but it's been a struggle even moving around trying to take stills around the apartment.
Edit: Also, would love some basic gear recommendations to carry around. I have an extra battery already, so my main concern is that I'm currently looking into some bags to carry the body with a Sigma 18-50 attached, but not have it be too bulky. Big plus if it is waterproof, Seattle rains quite often!

Hello, Welcome to FM! Looks like you're using a Sony camera so you should head over to the Sony forum. Check the archives, most questions have already been asked there. Do try to clarify what sort of photography interests you. Portrait, landscape, birds and nature, or maybe sports. Try sitting on the Pickleball sideline and get some photos!
One thing I always ask a new photographer, "Did you set the diopter?". Usually the answer is 'What's that'? That sets the viewfinder to YOUR eye. Each camera has a different way to set it so you'll have to check the manual. Do try to learn what all the buttons do. You'll eventually learn why those buttons do those things! The 'WHY' is the most important thing! In the mean time, have fun!

Thanks and apologies for posting to the wrong board, still navigating through all the other different groups here and working out the forum search too. I definitely didn't know about the diopter and from my brief look into it, it would definitely help out some of the viewfinder issues I've had with my glasses. Lots of reading still to do even with the base camera manual...
