The first attempt was a bit of fun, here's an attempt at a slightly more refined version.
I made a mental note to myself this time - don't stick your tongue out...
Thanks Guys,
It wasn't too difficult really - it did take a few trys to get right though; so keep your eyes open for a 'slightly dented' 1DS Mk2 on Buy and Sell this week *

Very very nice! Dangerously creative! Did you have your tongue bitten in the process?
No - but somehow you can only balance stuff when you do this

Great idea. Best original idea of the week so far. Hey, the top of your head looks just like mine, sparse.
Yep, it's a shot that really shows off the stress of teenage parenting.
My daughter says men have just three hairstyles: parted, unparted - and departed.
I like the idea very much. And you stick to the topic, which many others don't
I personally prefer the first version, because it is more spontaneous and also because the second version appears oversaturated to me. But as always, this is a matter of taste.
You did a very nice job, Mike, and you have my vote.

Hi, Mike! This is such a great concept and extremely well done! I like the second version a lot better but both are great! How did you manage trip the shutter? By the way, I just now put two and two together and realized that it was your gorgeous paper photo that was right behind my cat photo in the WA. It was fascinating to watch how those two were more or less evenly divided all week. Mine just edged yours out by a few votes but congratulations, nonetheless, on a wonderful shot! Best of luck with this one.
All the best,
Endre
Endre,
Thanks for your kind words - I've actually just left you a note of congratulations on your WA victory - a well deserved one IMHO.
I used the 10 second self timer for the shutter trip and used manual focus set to 6' distance. The camera was locked on a ballhead looking down the leg of the 'pod. I'd trip the self timer, get to the balance and wait for the shutter to fire. It took many 'takes' the get everything acceptably right. The timing wasn't too bad - I could hold the balance, but the composition was tricky!

Thanks, Mike, for the explanation.
I figured that's how you did it, although you could also have had someone else trip a remote. Either way, it's a fantastic shot - one that certainly deserves to make it to the finals, if not beyond. Thanks, again, for your gracious comments here and at the WA site.
All best wishes,
Endre
