Tell my "buddy" a fine composition Jim! Maybe a bit more light or whites on the birds breast in the post processing? It would stand out better in the frame!
Hope everyone is warm and safe!
We are buried in snow and ice and sub freezing temps since December.

It's pretty rare to catch a Saab 2000 in the United States. This one was carrying the Iowa State Lady Cyclones into Lubbock for tonight's basketball game against the Texas Tech Lady Raiders. Go Tech and Wreck 'Em !!
Anyone looking for a great gimbal? I have two for sale as of this morning, they are mint condition, an RS3 Pro rig and an RS 4 Pro rig. DJI just sent me the new RS5 gimbal. These are in new condition. $300 for the RS3 and $400 for the RS4.
Holy Cow! I have a couple dozen PM's re" the RS3/4 gimbals. I knew that I was pricing them below market, but I always feel like my gear has returned the investment in multiples so I like giving someone a bit of a break.

Darn Jim! Looks like the "coffin" a Huey door gunner was positioned in in Vietnam! A "chicken plate" and a "monkey harness" we called them!
Hi Joe, it sure works well. Very little engineer in me, my math skills are limited to invoicing, in fact, I had to promise a college professor that I would "never do anything with math that would endanger someone", In turn he promised to give me a C in a required course .
Sitting in my surgeon's waiting room while the lab technicians see if they got all the Basal Cells on the first go around. I guess my week can only get better from here.......... who knew that Baby Oil & Iodine was bad for you?
Yesterday was fun, my Buddy with the R44 in the hangar is 6th in seniority at Southwest, his dream has been for his son Hunter to fly with him before he retires in a couple of years. Yesterday that dream was realized as they were cleared for departure from Love Field to San Diego on a four day series of trip legs. I was strategically positioned on the top floor of a parking garage looking straight at their gate, got the whole sequence in 4K for them, including audio. Tim's son Hunter was just released from training status so this was his first flight as co-pilot flying the line, and it was with his Dad, pretty special.
Hello old friends it's been way too long.
I used to shoot aviation many moons ago before kids, marriage (and subsequent divorce)
I had a 7d and 400/5.6, i know not rock star stuff but it did the job.
I'm now looking to get back into it now my daughter is a bit older and I have a bit more spare time.
I since switched to Sony and picked up a used A1 last year.
Now to lenses and setups, I collected a 200-600 sony today and it's a big chunky thing compared to what I'm used to. I know a 2.2kg lens is nothing for some, but I was born different with limited movement in my shoulders meaning I can't pull my elbows in to support a heavy lens.
So I'm asking the airshow folks here for some guidance.
My plan is to shot ground to air at airshows and my local airfield.
How's a monopod or tripod + gimbal for fast moving warbirds and jets, or am I better off going with a lighter lens and hand holding?
Welcome back John, sounds like life has been happening to you. Glad you came back to us! My experience with anything resting on the ground is, you just end up lifting the wright of it along with your camera and lens. I bought a Wimberly Mount years ago and tried it at dozens of airshows, only to dismount my camera and toss the Wimberly into the back of the golf cart. Those things are great for motor racing and wildlife, but not for subjects that go "up". Does Sony have an equivalent of the 100-500? That is not a real heavy lens and it has some reach.
