Anyone planning to attend Oshkosh 2026? I think that I am going to plan on going, maybe for the week. My guess is that, unless something unusual happens, it will be my last pilgrimage to Wittmen Field and I might as well do it while I still can.
Oshkosk is my radar. I've never been during EAA.
Is there a Media Cred option?
I'll need to get my sensors spotless, or else I'll be removing dots for ages
You would be a kid in a candy store. Unfortunately, EAA does not credential any photographers that are not on staff at a recognized media outlet.....................only one exception and he was a personal friend of Paul and Tom Poberezny, as well as the photographer for the Red Devils and the Christen Eagles...................
The good news is, you don't need a credential to get great shots at Oshkosh, just get to the airshow line about 1 in the afternoon and let it unfold in front of you.
Did a 777-300ER drone inspection today. Just as I was wrapping it up the weather started moving in, we're supposed to get slammed for the next few days.
When I stuck my toe into commercial work in 1980 there were very strict, unwritten rules about commercial photography. No one strayed, if you were a portrait photographer that is all you did, if you shot architecture you never shot a portrait, or a product. Architectural work was so specialized that a photographer who shot exterior architecture would not shoot interiors, in fact I was regularly mocked due to my lack of focus. Coming from a marketing background, first I had no idea about any rules pertaining to photography, second, I saw that mindset as a good way to leave lots of cash on the table. My philosophy was to shoot anything that I thought that I could shoot well, except weddings, food and fashion. I did get roped into a few weddings and a food shoot for a Tex-Mex restaurant, but that was it. And video, no still photographers shot video and vice versa, how things have changed. Social media is a big driver in the change, but I think the fact that markets change and there wasn't enough work in those specialized segments to support a photographer was a motivating factor as well.
I left James' camera at home yesterday......a real no no..........so he used one of my R5II's with his favorite lens, the RF100-500. Kind of glad this all unfolded because it confirmed my suspicion that he is indeed ready to move up the ladder camera wise. He captured this shot all on his own and I'm pretty sure that he would have missed it with his "R"/100-400 combo. He's pretty proud of this shot, and he should be..................
Ok you guys, I am getting a lot of ribbing from James over his 5 "Likes" vs. my measley 3 on my last post! He's getting a huge kick out of that..........
I turned off and drained the water from our farm house since the pipes will freeze. Instead of staying holed up in the house with no water we are staying in Cedar Park with our kids. This global warming thing is not working out the way I thought it would.
This stuff usually rolls in when Al Gore is speaking in a city🤣
James and I were out shooting this morning, but it’s too cold and at the same time not enough pretty precipitation to be photogenic, it’s just pretty miserable. The TAF is for more mist and ice pellets through Monday morning.
In Illinois this was just normal faire but I’m a Texan and don’t see any reason for any of this coming past the Red River.
We are at 16 degrees with a feels like of 2. So far the power has stayed on so there's that. Last time this happened the power went off in the middle of the night and stayed off for a week. Our pool equipment was frozen solid and every bit of it had to be replaced.
We were lucky and the freezing rain missed us. It is about 18 here now with a feels like of 10. I hope your power stays on and all of your pool equipment makes it through this time Jim.
Glad it missed you Joe! The temps are supposed to get above freezing tomorrow for a little while but not by a lot and the nights are supposed to be brutal for at least a week.
