Thanks James! Marie is one of the first African American authors in the town. She co authored a book “Coming Out of the Dark Into the Light” about what it was like growing up and going to school during segregation.
I love that lens, I no longer have that camera though. I sold it and got two Chamonix wooden folding (4x5 and 8x10) cameras with the money.
Thanks Tina!
Thank you. From Marie's perspective; I wonder if today feels a bit like Deja vu? You have a treasure trove of seasoned faces to record, and access. Lucky you! Are you familiar with Dorothea Lange and Edward Curtis?

Thanks James. Yes she definitely is not happy with how are things are right now. I'm familiar with Dorothea Lange, her work is so incredible. I thought about contacting Marie and following up some of the people in her book and photographing them as well and making a mini project out of it.
These were shot less than a year ago. In my area of Michigan has oil, and small pumps/derricks line the Grand river, and nearby woods. When they put one in they build an earth dam around it about 12" high surrounding the pump and an on site tank. I'd guess they are 8-10,000 gallon tanks. This particular operator dumps his used tanks in a meadow, and has happens - meadows are always shrinking and the forest takes the land back.

@dourbalistar@ the lack of perfect alignment adds to the photos, imo. Can't emphasize how excellent the clouds are, and the moving climber for that matter (you?). So good that I'm ordering green and blue filters to try this out myself.
Much appreciated, @Cloud75! Yes, I'm the climber. The most painful part was running down in my climbing shoes so that I could position myself in a relatively static position before the self-timer went off.
To account for the filter factors, I take an incident meter reading and add +3 stops, +2 stops, and +2 stops for R/G/B, respectively. It's not exact since my FM2n only has full stop shutter speed increments, but close enough. Good luck and hope you can share some results!
A quick comparison between an 8x10 + 300mm Heliar f/4.5 and a 4x5 + Xenotar 150mm f/2.8, both wide open. I was surprised at how similar that they were. Can you tell which is which?
