I captured this image of a smoking waiter waiting for his first customer of the day, on a wonderful walk with my friend Marc exploring the back streets of Venice.
Marc De Tollenaere is a superb photographer who has spent his career photographing in Venice Italy and Calcutta India. Although he was there this time with our Leica group, he offers private photography workshops/tours in both localities. His lifetime connections in both localities allows him to provide access to places no one else can. Check him out if you are ever in Venice: https://www.marcdetollenaere.com/

This image was also shot early morning on San Servolo Island in Venice earlier this week. It is a basically full frame so composition was successful. I like it plain but my Wife wanted it for a particular purpose and asked for a red rose. Full disclosure I added it in PS.
Maybe I should have just posted the real image. But what the h*ll it is just for fun. Don't kill me, I ratted myself out at least.

I'm loving this series from Italy and adding "like" to most of them, if not all of them, one after another. Really engaging, and really making me think about my own photography, so thanks for sharing.
That said, I think the picture would look better without the rose because the latter competes for attention against the strong perspective in the scene.
Just wanted to give some feedback because I realised I was having all these thoughts about your images but not telling you any of them!

I came across this interesting Persian man coming out of his small ancient wooden door in a back alley of Venice last weekend. The perfect light and a great subject for that kind of special location.

And this one is a masterpiece. Wonderful subject, perfect moment, 35mm including the environment just right ...
Not as overtly 'artistic' as some of your other examples, but demonstrating decades of artistry in the execution.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Both positive and critics are welcome and appreciated. Glad to hear that you are enjoying them.
By the way, I agree about the rose. Done by special request. I am keeping the legitimate one without the rose in my collection.
A Gondola pulling away from it's overnight berth to start the work day. Despite the brilliant colors in the architecture I liked the story and gesture better in monochrome. Colors can distract from the story at times.

love the processing on the Dairy Queen shot!
Thank you. I used the Color Precision Kodak looks with my Sony. I used the Leica version of it for this shot since it seemed appropriate for the subject.
