Thanks. Not sure what you mean about the waterline. There was of course heat shimmer that is magnified when using a telephoto lens.

Thanks Tony, stunning images and GIF animation. WOW!

I noticed that the waterline is moving up and down a tiny bit in the GIF from frame to frame.
You actually have been holding your camera with lens impressively steady.

One way I try to improve my GIFs is to first align the images in Photoshop.
Then use the aligned images to make the GIF animation.
Given the right background that seems mostly to work pretty well.
Here is such an example of aligning the images first.

And this is the set of original images the above aligned animation was developed from.

I am not so good at handholding a heavy camera / lens combination.

As I pointed out above, you are holding your camera remarkably steady.
So the motion up and down in the GIF of the waterline is hardly distracting.

Thanks gain for a stunning set of images and GIF animation.

K-H.

Thanks, they were not the ideal images to use for my first GIF attempt. They were shot from a zodiac on choppy water with other passengers in the way, and you never know where the orca will surface.

I know, excuses, excuses.

No, no Tony. You did an amazing job with those images.
I didn't mean to be nitpicking.
Just to offer a useful suggestion for future animations of yours.
I am looking forward to your future work in this area.

With kind regards, Karl-Heinz.

When I decided to pick up an OM body I originally went with the OM-D E-M10 iv. After using it for a week I just couldn't get past the lack of an ISO button. I don't use Auto ISO. And the button I could program for BBF was awkwardly on the top panel. The folks at Samy's in Pasadena were great and took it back no questions asked. Actually that's the first time I've ever returned a new body or lens. So that led me to the OM-5. I realize the OM-1 is a better option but I just didn't want to spend the $$ considering I'm pretty heavy into the Z system.
I thought that little Panasonic 35-100 was a great lens but I really don't like the "zoom to turn on" function so that went back also.

Hey Colin, as you may or may not know, I've always been a big fan of your work. Every one of your posts was a joy to view and stood out not only in image quality but also subject matter and presentation. I could instantly recognize a post as yours well before seeing your script. I just wanted you to know that hasn't changed since you've switched systems. Yes, I can see the difference, as it's obvious you can too, but that doesn't take away from your fine presentation and in no way diminishes your efforts. Please keep shooting and sharing. I miss seeing your images on the N&W board.
Gary

Nothing very exciting. I just picked up this lens refurbished from Amazon. $400 and appears brand new. I've only been able to use it a little bit so I tried it out this morning on some yardbirds.
