My OM-1 MK ll and OM 150-600 arrived today so I headed out for what I was hoping would be some decent Osprey shots from the kayak but the birds weren't cooperating and I was further away than what I had planned. So I headed back to shore for some testing on the regulars. Maybe Friday I can get out to my spot where I'm able to get closer to some birds. I also discovered that I need to update DxO Pure Raw in order to process my new files so these have very rudimentary processing until I get that handled.

Much to soon to draw any real conclusions but from what I saw yesterday thinking that you can use this lens reliably at 1200mm effective FL is folly. I kinda knew that going in. IMHO, If you need that long of a focal length, you're simply too far away from your subject. Yes, you can get the shot but that's about it. My hope is this lens will turn out to be a little better than my Olly 100-400 in the 400-500mm range where I can fill the frame. My point being, if I was close enough to fill the frame with this bird at say 400- 450mm (900), I believe you would be seeing much more detail. We'll see.
