Some of my earliest m4/3 photos ever, January 3, 2020, one week after I bought E-M1 II and 12-100mm, I was still testing them out, basically, walking around the city. Still haven't switched to FF, and looking at these photos you can see why I don't need good image quality.
Yep, I'm back. Just can't stay away from m43 and my A7RIV went in and I came home with an OM-1/12-40II kit. This is the second image on my drive home from the store (Downtown Camera in Toronto, ON)
Just after sunrise on Highway 2A in Eastern Ontario
OM-1, 12-40II, 3 shot/1 frame bracket to HDR
Post-fall/pre-winter can be a dead zone, but a frosty harvested field in golden hour is often quite delightful.
I’m liking the OM-1 a lot so far, although it does seem that my 12-40 PRO mkII is not quite as good as the 12-40 Pro I sold off in February. Thankfully that’s just the difference between an exception copy and merely a rather good one.
Sorry your 12-40 f2.8 II didn't work out as well. I got the same initial setup and compared it to a R5 and RF24-70 f2.8L I had, which was a super combo. The OM-1 in HHHR mode and that lens equaled it. So I sold off all my Canon gear and haven't looked back. So far every Oly lens I got has been top notch sharp all over their range. A 8-25 f4 Pro, 12-100 f4 Pro, 40-150 f2.8 Pro and even a 100-400 which replaced a less then great performing copy of a Panasonic/leica 100-400.
The near-macro capability of the 12-40 is something I've seriously missed over the last 8 months shooting Sony. Glad to have another 12-40 in my bag, even if it's not quite the equal of the exceptional copy I had previously.
Downtown Camera still sells Olympus/OM gear... interesting. The only store in the GTA that still sells them that I know of. Maybe I need to visit them next time in Toronto.
I only visited downtown once since COVID. Two years ago, I also started getting seizures, broke my shoulder while sleeping in bed and lost my driver's license. So getting photos along Highway 2A like that would be difficult now too. Doctor won't even let me ride a bicycle or go out late at night, so mostly just been photographing Mississauga during daytime, like in the photos above.
I also developed a habit of not pointing camera directly into the sun after 15 years with C-7070WZ as its small sensor would be easily damaged by such a shot. I am still nervous even with the larger sensor of E-M1 II.

Vistek still seems to carry Olympus gear, but a lot of Toronto stores have stopped carrying the brand, including most of the stores out here in BC. Speaking to the managers of some of the stores, it seems like that's because of problems dealing with OM Systems as much as it is declining customer interest in the products.
Camera Canada in London, Ontario and The Camera Store in Calgary, Alberta sell a lot of Olympus gear online, and would likely sell more if they could get enough stock.

You're from BC? I thought you were from Montreal for some reason. I know Vistek slowly has gotten a small selection of Olympus lenses back in stock online, but still none in their Mississauga store. I never visited that Vistek much anyways, I bought E-M1 II and 12-100mm F4 at the Henry's basically across the street. I also tried out E-M5 III and 12-40mm F2.8 at the time and it helped me to decide they were not a good fit, so it's weird to think Olympus gone from these stores now. I am not sure I would even be Olympus user now not being able to test them and hold them in my hands. C-5060WZ was my first camera ever, so a lot of uncertainties.
I know about Camera Canada, I do visit Sarnia sometimes and pass by London, but as I said my mobility limited now due to seizures and medication, so I would have to convince my dad to make a detour on the way. It would be nice to check out 100-400mm F5-6.3 because I never held such big lens before. I bought 8-25mm F4 without trying no worries, smaller and cheaper than 12-100mm F4, but 100-400mm F5-6.3 much bigger and more expensive. SLR-style cameras in general still a new thing for me, E-M1 II my first ever.
Here are some Sarnia photos from last year. They were demolishing the mall downtown and I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I was lucky E-M1 II and 12-100mm F4 is dustproof. I was shocked seeing the camera covered in the dust, and even more shocked when I stupidly zoomed back out which retracted the dust-covered lens barrel back in. Now I am extra careful, blowing away every little speck of dust from the extended barrel, and hopefully no long term damage. If the lens sucks air in, it also has to push air out, right? I got weather-sealed camera for an overseas trip to a rainy tropical country (cancelled due to COVID), but I never thought about demolition of malls.

Downtown Camera still carries the basics, although the website can be confusing if it's an OM System product. I picked my OM-1 up there by accident (I went in to get a used 12-40 before going to Hamilton to get the only OM-1 Henry's had in the GTA, found out DC had the OM-1 kit actually in stock, bought that instead).
Ah, Photocreative, I never been there, I completely forgot about them. In an out of the way place, on a side street in an industrial area, and there is (or was?) a photolab called Browns nearby, maybe even on the same street too, so maybe I get them confused. Thanks for the reminder. I will try to remember them when the 90mm F3.5 Macro IS Pro finally comes out. I can get there with just one bus too, although the route is getting very crowded lately, at least it's just 20 minutes ride, 15 minutes walk, no need to take the train all the way to Union. Maybe that is the future for OM, more specialized, niche product, not consumer, not as everywhere, so we will have to travel a bit further.
