This seems rather too good to be true... If it turns out to be real, it would be a real showcase for Canon sensor innovation.
Edit: and apparently Leica uses something similar in the M11 and its other 60Mp cameras. These models actually offer triple resolution (60, 36, and 18) using pixel binning techniques similar to smartphones.
It will be interesting to see if Canon is doing something similar or if there is some additional secret sauce (assuming any of this is real).
