Went back and edited some street shots from pre-COVID days. Love this camera.
It's starting to have some problems and I'm considering whether I should buy a used Mk2. I don't want the extra resolution, and I think I'd prefer the external (tiltable) EVF in the 1, but I'm interested in the faster focusing. All of the shots below are shot from the hip, and better focusing would be nice.
What do you think? Worth going for just for the focusing, or are there other benefits I'm missing as well? I LOVE the output (lens + sensor) from my 1, and am afraid that the 2 will not be as good in that regard, or at least will be different in some way.

I still shoot almost every day but am lagging behind with processing the captures. Here are 4 snaps ranging from Dec last year to earlier today.

I don't really want the body to get any bigger, but if they extended out a small grip on the front it could make room for the much needed new Z battery. I wouldn't mind this as the body needs some sort of grip anyway. Be brave Sony and scrap the video features altogether which would reduce thermals and potentially internal space. Just focus on photography. Get rid of that gimmicky variable low pass filter feature. Also scrap the Zeiss badge to keep the price from rising. Add the newer AF system and a touch to focus screen and new menu system. But for the love of god don't make the screen a flip out screen which is only really useful for video and a PITA for photography.
Please note Sony: If I want decent video I'll get an A7Siii, GH5 or use my smartphone. Not every product has to be a jack of all trades. Be a master or one. ...Show more →
I agree but "removing the video features" doesn't actually do anything. Mirrorless camera ARE video cameras—that's literally how the viewfinder works. I'd like them to continue optimizing the camera for photos over video.
The RX1 is total overkill for family snaps . . . but I love it! Unless I need an 85+ for formal portraits it is my go to camera for documenting my personal life since I got it a year ago. I rarely grab my A9 and even in my paid family portraits I love the RX1RII (in adequate lighting) for the size and quality.

Matt,
Heading up this week by have never taken just my RX. These look wide for 35mm? Regardless, well done! Matt Kerby wrote:

The first two are 4 or 5 shot Pano's. I don't use the in camera feature, I just shoot them by hand and stitch them in Lightroom.
Last time I went I used my a7r/24GM, so, just my rx1rii seemed doable and actually was. Nice and light and plenty of MP's to crop if I needed to.
have fun, it's a beautiful time to visit!

I wish I had the RX1 back in the days when I visited the Canyon some years ago. At that time I only had and was interested in my "low-tech" Sony Nex5 with Sigma Lens; will post soon some pictures in the APS-C Thread nevertheless
