Great shots all. I love my RX1 (and RX1RII).
Anyone have experience getting an RX1 repaired? Mine has all sorts of problems, including manual focus not working, flash not working, internal battery dead, EVF not switching between EVF and screen appropriately, etc.
It's a sentimental camera for me, and I love it, so I don't want to just replace it. And in some ways, I prefer it to my RX1RII, weirdly enough.

No matter the new Q2, Q3, and A7Cs in the world, the size of the RX1 camera body and special lens is always enticing. Repurchasing one is always on my mind.

Just registered here to say that these are some amazing photos! This little camera packs quite a punch. Images remind me of the output of Sony ZA 35mm lens.
Hard believe Sony has not released a 3rd revision of the RX1R with weather sealing and IBIS yet. Fuji and Leica are doing incredibly well with their fixed lens cameras.

Not hard to believe when you realize Sony and Zeiss parted ways. I assume Sony did not have the legal ability to make a new one with the Zeiss lens.

But presumably they could make a new "RX1" with a GM branded lens on it, right? I'm not sure people would care that it's not a Zeiss, given how great the GM lenses are.

I love the 35GM, but it is a different animal. The contrast and depth one gets from the RX1 lens is superior. The bokeh and edge to edge sharpness are better with the GM. Could Sony make a comparable lens to the RX1 Zeiss lens? I would hope so but have not seen an example of that executed.
Just popping a small lens on a body with a nice form factor is not enough, in my opinion. Leica did just that with the Q/Q2. The Q2 camera, sensor, form factor, ergonomics, etc are all great, but the lens is significantly inferior to the RX1 lens. I would love for Sony to make a new model of the RX1 series. I would prefer a lens with rendering similar to the Zeiss, because it would nicely complement what the 35GM on an mirror less ILC in their line produces, rather than necessarily competes with it.

I had this thought too, regarding the RX1 vs Q’s Lux. But having shot the Q, I’ll say the lens surprised me and I don’t think necessarily inferior. In some very real ways, it’s better than the Sonnar—very fast AF, faster aperture, stabilized, wider, better LoCal correction, I saw no onion rings, better flare resistance and I think sharper across the frame (no mid-zone dip). I like the way it handles highlights more as well.
In the RX1’s favor—smoother draw, better micro-contrast and color, better MFD performance, better regarding vignetting and still impressively sharp across the frame and less distortion and physically smaller. I suspect the coma correction is better than the Q as well.
Ultimately, I like the RX1 Sonnar’s draw better than the Q Lux, but the Q impressed me both with images and usability slaughtered the RX1. I liked it had some structure in the draw—sometimes Sonnar and GM smoothness bores me. I have owned the GM 35 too—I understand why people like it so much, but I think it’s a bit boring and while being hellaciously sharp and corrected generally, I don’t like the micro-contrast and image “feel” compared to the other 2.
The limited ZX1 files I toyed with were awesome. I haven’t ever been that impressed with the x100 23/2 lens/images.

I've never used a Fuji or Leica (fixed lens) camera. Feel no need realy as Sony e-mount is giving me (to) many options already.
I've been eying the Rx1 since release data, and only now I've found a affordable deal on one. Been taking it out for daily spins. Very happy with the results it gives me in such a small package.
Yes, it has its quirks, but nothing that realy bothers me.

Great photos everyone. Each time I think that I should get a 35mm Summicron for my M9, I realize that I have a perfect (to me) 35mm f/2 on my RX1 cameras. I keep forgetting how good these are.
