Realized I made a typo in my last post, I meant to say 40/f1.2. What would you say are the different use cases for these two lenses?
I thought you meant the Batis 40. Between the 2 CVs, the 60 is a specialty lens. It can close focus down to 1:2, highly corrected, sharp at all distances and apertures. But it's bigger and heavier than the 40/1.2. The focus throw is much longer so it's for a more deliberate work. For all-purpose with some compromises, the 40/1.2 is a better choice.

Perhaps it was the Voigtlander 35/2 and 21/3.5 VM lenses.
Are those new releases? With the levers, they look like the old LTM ones. Not that that's a bad thing, that was a really cool concept.
I just want them to keep focusing on smaller - not necessarily faster - lenses, and maybe toss in a 90/2 with close focus and Nokton-esque rendering.wide open.

I'm not sure but I think they were shown at Photokina. I will ask the Voigtlander distributor about them. (Cameraquest)
CV haven't made a production Leica mount 35/2 or 21/3.5 before. According to the source of the image whom I quoted but it seems Fred hasn't the images were shown as prototypes at Photokina to the admin of l-camera-forum.
Ooooooh. CV 35/2. Now that picked my interest. I'm really hoping for a native FE mount 35mm Voigtländer that had decent image quality and nice rendering (unlike their "classic" f/1.4).
Thought I would share some landscapes I took recently. I have enjoyed this lens as a single lens to take with me when hiking. The 40/1.2 has been my go to walk around/travel/street lens.
I ‘ve been targeting a semi macro lens for long time and today I jumped on this beauty . I got it on offer for $ 820.
Now my prime setup is quite complete having CV 21/3.5 Color Skopar, Sigma Art 35/1.4, FE 55/1.8, FE 85/1.8 and Sigma Art 135/1.8

Great lens line up! You're gonna love this lens! One of my 2 favourites 😉

I like the 'classic' look for when distracting OOF rendering is the goal of the composition.
I agree that Voigtlander should release native Ultron 28 and 35mm lenses next!

What trail is this? I could guess, but I'd likely be wrong.

Yes, I can understand. And I've seen some of the images you've shared taken with the 35mm f/1.4. They're really lovely and that lens sure can deliver! But it's not a lens I would choose to be my general purpose 35mm. For such use the Ultron could be the perfect option. Looking at the Leica-prototype, it seems the 35mm f/2 could be the exact same size as the 21mm f/3.5 color-skopar. Having a 35mm f/2 Ultron that size sounds like something I could keep glued to my camera almost all the time. But in the meantime, I think I'll get the CV35/1.7 VM to fill the gap between 21 and 50.

Definitely not a general purpose lens. It's just a fun, compact and fast lens with strong and unique character.
As an all-a·round 35mm, I definitely agree that the CV 35/1.7 or ZM 35/1.4 (+ 5m PCX) are a much better choice. With the help of the plano-convex front lens, the induced field curvature is pretty much fixed.
The CV 40/1.2 is another gem but not quite 35mm if that's your preference.
I have the feeling Voigtlander will introduce 28mm or 35mm native Ultrons next.

I guess it's more about what fits my lens line-up the best. As I'm rebuilding my kit after I returned to Sony this summer, I still need to figure out which lenses will I get. Still undecided... I also have the new Tamron 28-75 which covers my casual AF-needs, but the manual voigtländers are what I truly love. Still haven't owned any native ones yet though. Had the 40mm f/1.2 VM which I loved a LOT and now the 50mm f/1.5 VM but now selling that one too.
Now as I've been reading these FM threads, I guess I'm starting to consider the Voigtländer 21/3.5+40/1.2+65/2 trinity again. Would be a bit more versatile than the 21/3.5+35/1.7+50/1.2 which was my other option. (Longer FL's I use so rarely that I might stay with vintage glass on those.)
