Below are images taken with my tripod mounted 100-400mm GM alone as well as with my 1.4X and 2X teleconverters and with my A7rIII. These are only test shots for confirmation that my new small Leofoto LH-30R 10.4 oz ball head with rotating panoramic clamp can support the lens alone and with my 1.4X and 2X teleconverters. Images taken at 400mm setting for the lens and f5.6, with the 1.4X teleconverter at f8, and the 2X teleconverter at f11. This is the original thread:
As mentioned in the thread, for the set of images taken with the 2X teleconverter there was so much movement for the focus that I did find it difficult to focus the lens accurately.
Images taken out my rear kitchen rear door looking at houses and our local PO. Images manually focused on the chimney in the center of the image. First of each pair is full frame and the second is at 100% Crop and the images are straight out of the camera set to LR defaults and no additional processing conducted.
Leave it say, the little ball head performed quite well and the lens at 400mm at f5.6 was sharp alone as well as with the 1.4X and 2X Teleconverters.

Fantastic shot! At 800mm!!
I guess you're more than happy with the TC performance?
Thanks guys
I'm ok with it so far. I just haven't been able to get out with it enough to really work it out.
We/ve had the Polar Vortex with temps around -30F, then an ice storm, and now 6-8 inches of snow.
It's been tough to get out there.
RFisher,
The bird, a Trumpeter Swan, is pretty big, Three to four feet tall, wings I'll guess at around a six foot wing span.
There are a couple areas where people feed them when the swans are visiting the area in the winter.
Without that going on, I'd never get shots like these.

800mm
Another big cold spell coming in tomorrow, hopefully it warms up some during the day so I cam get out again.
