The Fox Returns!
Posting a sequence of images from a trip to Japan last year, all taken with the 100-400 and 1.4x TC on. At this site on the frozen lake, every day, the local fishermen throw some fish to attract the eagles and kites that are in the area. This spectacle is of course great for photography and people from all over gather to take pictures. There are often other critters that sneak in and steal some of the fish, including red foxes.
This particular red fox was behaving most curiously, at first it watched the huge Steller's Eagle eating the frozen fish and then it tries to approach it stealthily. The eagle reacts by flaring its wings and attacks the fox which runs away only to return and attack the eagle! The eagle is taken aback and not wanting to confront all those teeth, flies off. The fox then goes around the lake terrorizing the other eagles (White-tailed) and making them flee.
According to the locals, they've never seen this happen before. The red fox is listed as one of the prey animals of the Steller's sea eagle, which is probably the heaviest and largest Eagle known, with a wing span of up to 8 ft. In this series the fox outfoxes the eagle! Truly an amazing experience.
PS. Posted one of these before, but wanted to tell the whole story.
Thanks for looking.
Pradeep

Wow, this page slipped a ways down.
I guess everyone's using their shinny new cameras and lenses and don't have the time to use the old and crummy ones.
Well not me!
I'm out there almost everyday, hitting the parks trying to find some new content for you folks.
So get out there and shoot.
