I received a call from my local camera store that they received two 14-30's, one of which was already spoken for, and asked if I was interested in the second one. Paid for it yesterday, and it's out for delivery to me today.
I'll have to do some quick sharpness/decentering tests when I get home from work. Fingers crossed I don't receive a "dud" copy...
the new firmware with the 14-30 f4 works wonders in low light environments. can confidently bring it into any low light environment now without any hesitation and use it as normal. I uce AF-C Dynamic AF exclusively and it was used for all the photos shown.

Love the dj tiesto (?) photos. Not sure the lens did much contribution as I believe this is mostly the photographer eye.
Thanks! Just wanted to show something different in use than landscape or architectural, and also show what the 14-30 can do when though it's an f4 in a dark environment.
Luke, well, you capped my decision to spare me a bunch of $$ to cover that range of FL on my newly acquired Z7. I'd been arguing with myself as to which Milvus to get - I'm no longer doing that. The $ I save will allow me to get a Zeiss at 135.
Of course, the determining factor of your picture as to my decision was to post a pic with a beautiful woman and Bruce.
Good thing I can't find a reputable dealer on line to buy one from and, as usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short Hope you're well, my friend. anthony

I find it easily in Europe ... but my z body is a recalled one, so till it is back and I checked it was not messed up I have an excuse for no more lenses :-)
Quick question and hopefully appropriate for this thread. Have any of you been using ND filters or preferably a variable ND filter with the 14-30? If so, have you noticed any vignetting because of the filter ring? I would like to use a variable but am thinking the extra thickness may get in the corners.

Thanks in advance,

The shot at the top of the page (the water one) is taken with a B&W 10stop ND (normal thickness). No experience with variable ND - but I suspect you'll get vignetting at widest angle.

Thanks Luke. I have a variable in 77mm that I was able to use with most of my lenses with step down ring for the smaller lenses. Looking to get a 10 stop in 82mm now that I have the 14-30 and 24-70/28.
I am also thinking the thickness of the variable would get in the way at 14mm too.
I have the B+W in my cart now. Guess it is time to "check out"

I found it - https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1593343/0 - 1st post, Snapsy tested vignetting with singh-ray vari ND - pretty bad at 14mm. The filter is thick though (14.2mm according to B&H).

Thanks. Now I remember seeing that last month but couldn't for the life of me remember where it was at. Thanks again!
