I've never really been a people subject type of shooter but found a Sigma 85mm f1.4 ART for $550 AUD or $372 USD and just couldn't pass it up. Its not a Z mount, but it is an absolute beast.
Preliminary testing yesterday.. (yes closest eye is oof ) All shot at 1.4.
Great photos everyone. I just sent my only body (I know, I know) to Nikon Canada to get the rubber replaced (it was starting to fall apart after 1 year). Since Nikon closed the service center in BC, it has to travel all the way to Ontario. Hopefully it won't take forever to return (no NPS).
I went to a local Photo Fair hoping to see a Noct Nikkor 58/.95 but it was a no show.
So I played with Z7 and Noct Nikkor 58/1.2 instead.
Shot at f1.2 which probably not neccessary in this type of setup with Profoto studio flash but well...
I kept yelling to the model, don't move so quickly, this is not a Z7 with eye AF
Mine as well. In additional to body wear, The VF rubber piece also have very very poor quality, that piece is fall apart also with in a year. This is the first time happened to me with any Nikon cameras in past 10 years. TBH, I am quite disappointed with build quality of Z even it feel great in hand. It remind me my past experience with Sony camera. (1st and 2nd generation, I don’t have experience for third And later)
They dropped the ball here.

I still have and use my A7R and no issues with any part or any rubber!

That is too bad. I have been wondering whether to put a sleeve on the camera or not. It is so not aesthetically pleasing to do so, but worth considering. I do see scratch on area next to FN buttons from my finger nail already Eye peace itself protrudes in a non streamlined manner, and is not too much of a surprise to hear that rubber gets the wear and tear quickly. Both sort of feels to me that form is not quite there that those areas shows beating first.

To be perfectly clear - I have no other issues with the Z build. Rubber wearing on the grip under the fingernails (I guess I should cut them shorter) and somehow the rubber peeled off a thin layer on the right side of the body on a small panel there.
Apart from that - zero issues after a year (and the camera has seen snowy BC mountains, hot/humid jungles of Colombia, Burning Man to name the few places).
Historically Nikon had issues with rubber grip stretching out and peeling off (I think I had to have it replaced on my D8xx camera 2 or 3 times in the past).
Can't really agree with build quality. Too many used Nikon DSLRs have rubber peeling off etc. Maybe they just needed better adhesives but can't agree the Z is a lower grade (but wouldn't call it higher either.

Exact the same location on my Z7.
I do have body wear on D700, D8xx and DF, but none of them happen within one year. The eye piece should use rubber then some thin plastic part there, mine was broken at lower left corner within 3 month.
I don’t baby my gear but I don’t abuse them as well.
The Z itself build solid and tight. However, there are definitely areas can be improved. If you want avoid sending camera for service due to body wear, have a body glove may not be a bad idea.

I don't think I abuse my gear, but D700's rubber on battery cover is gone, D810 has recurring eyepiece breaking off. Smat thing for me would be to put a cover.
Good ol Brooklyn bridge area. It has been slowly getting cleaned up and getting less and less interesting. Not as bad as Times Square area which now feels like just a theme park after having lost the grime.
