More fall from the Z6. Voigtlander 35mm f/1.2 II and 75mm f/1.8
Great colors Matt. Is the Voigt you used Leica M mount? I have been looking at faster 35mm for my Leica and of course can mount to the Z6 too. Going to be renting a couple lenses to kick the tires on and may consider the Voigtlander.
Yea it’s the M Mount VII. Good character and enjoyable to use. If you want sharper maybe check out the 40/1.2 but it’s a bit tighter than 40 even. Otherwise like both of these on the Nikon.

Beautiful shots. Is that the Nokton 21mm f/1.4 ?
Thanks, Yes it is!

Stop that, it's not nice to make me regret selling things. Excellent shots!
Thanks! Besides the fact I really like the lens, it has also become my new fidget spinner. Nothing more satisfying than twisting the buttery smooth focus ring and clicking through the aperture.
Is anybody else impressed with the Nikon 50mm 1.8s bokeh ? It seems remarkably good to me. I bought the 85mm for portraits. The perspective helps with big noses, it has no aspherical elements so no onion rings, and is an overall excellent lens, but I don't feel pressured to use it.
Haven’t used the 50, but I am very impressed by all the images I see. I really want to swap my 24-70f4 for the 50 until I can get the money for the 35s plus a 70-200
I like them all, haven’t tried the 24 yet though. Used the 85 & 50 for some Christmas shots this evening but don’t share family. Bokeh sample though from the 85 (50 is good too). And another B&W from the Voigtlander 35/1.2 II.

It is good. Actually one of best modern glass I ever seen. However, I just rate 58g bokeh slightly higher than it even 50S is way sharper and maybe an overall better glass. I have way too many 50 lenses so I let 50S go but for $500, this is a steal, no better value out there.
The 58 1.4 G should be better. f/1.4, more expensive, a specialized lens. I would expect a 50mm 1.8 to be a general purpose, cheap, jack of all trades. I was also under the impression that sharpness comes at the cost of bokeh quality. Maybe this was the case in the past or on the DSLR mounts. The fact that this 50 is this sharp and the out of focus areas look so good is surprising.
with talk of the 50S and the 58G...
I wanted to chime in here.
if you have a Z6, the 58G performs well! there is a resolution match between the 58G and the Z6. Sure, the 50S will be a little sharper across the in both the center and across the frame, while obviously performing better (AF wise). But the 50S will not have the same smooth, buttery, dreamy bokeh.
if you have a Z7, the choice is clear to me, 50S is the only 50mm lens from nikon with enough resolution for the beastly Z7. the sigma art may work, if you need f1.4.

The 85 S
To me, it is CLEARLY the winner amongst a VERY strong lineup of S primes.
It's OOF area is a little more smooth when compared with the next best prime, the 50S.
Now, obviously the nature of a longer focal length will do that to the OOF area.
But still, the bokeh from the 50 S, at times, can look a LITTLE busy.
Don't get me wrong... we are really grasping at straws here. They are all great.
Congratulations to Nikon. I am VERY happy to have a 46 megapickle camera, with IBIS, a great EVF, and a bag of 24/35/50/85/24-70... all with enough resolution to carry the pickle jar.

The 58G is a specialty lens and on the Z6 it is superb. Having both the 50/1.8S and 58G I treat them as 2 very different lenses and use them to suit. The 58G lends to older style rendering but stopped down it is surprisingly sharp. The 58G for a f/1.4 lens is surpringly small and light so it is a great combo on the Z6/Z7.
DJ R, could you please post some 35 1.8 S shots ? Of people, if possible. I would like to like the lens, but from the samples I've seen so far, no love... I've used the 35mm 1.4G for 7 years and sold it. Guess I've gotten used to the way that one renders.
