Took it to the eclipse! Slapped on the 2x TC and let it rip. All shots were taken on my equatorial mount at f/13
Big fan of yours on IG, didn't realize you hung around these parts. Nice to see someone local here as well! You got some really nice shots of the eclipse. Sadly I didn't grab a filter to capture it and sitting in traffic up in the path of totality with questionable skies wasn't something I wanted to experience. Someone I spoke to said it took them 8 hours to get from Altona back down to the Capital District.

A few hummingbirds from Costa Rica. These were shot inside a bush around sunset at ISO 6400-12,800. Shutter speed still was not high enough as you can see from the wings. I was genuinely impressed at how easily the Z9 could pick them out and stay glued to the eye while they darted around:

Those cleaned up really nicely considering the iso.

Ha! Small world, glad to find a follower here, so cool and thank you for the support! It's a commitment for sure. I had 2 friends who drove back the night after and it took 2-3x longer than the normal drive. Another friend of mine and I waited until like 3 AM the next morning and hit no traffic. I can't wait for 2026.

Yikes. Are you headed to Iceland for 2026? Looks like it's just going to clip the west coast but the Westfjords are pretty much completely in. Probably going to be pretty crazy up there given how much hype there was for this one. Spain is pretty nice as well...
Luke,
Those first two shots are great... The last one (with the crane) looks like there's an out of focus sea otter in the background. Given your location, I'm guessing it's a log, but having recently been photographing sea otters from the kayak, I must have otter on the brain

Thanks! It is a log - waited 2.5 hours for this one to finally take off and swap with the other one that's sitting on a nest somewhere nearby. Finally got the take off sequence - no real good background choices.

I'll be posting sea otters on the 100-400 thread today, so you'll see why it looked like an otter to me
