Unfortunately the mouse that had to go because he was shredding the vapor barrier to our garage I live inner city so birds of prey are few and far between (without a drive) - I'm jealous of you guys that have easy access to owls and the like.
Pretty little juvenile Eastern Coral Snake that was in my neighbors yard. I relocated it for him and took the opportunity to snag a few photos of it while I had the chance. Definitely not the easiest snakes to get quality photos of……. Always on the move!!!! At one point it slithered on my foot and went in between my foot and my sandal. It showed no interest in biting me it was just trying to find somewhere to hide.
This Northern Flicker was sitting on this branch, dozing in the sun, until I disturbed him... this is one of the few images where he had his eyes open.
There are about 4 images to follow. All from the Z8. All but the first one were captured with the 500PF.
On June 8, 2023 they asked me if I had checked for a loon nest. I took it as a compliment and headed for the launch. It was a beautiful morning but by the time I was approaching the area where I hoped to find a loon on its nest, it was raining steadily. Normally the egg(s) is deposited a little earlier. The Common Loon incubation period is 26-29 days and a loon baby hatched from this nest on July 4th, 2023.
