As a data point, I had an order at B&H 3 minutes after it opened based on confirmation and it still showed as backordered this morning. I did ask them to change the price from the regular to edu price after that was out so maybe that affected my place in line.
Luckily, I had another pre-order that came through at a smaller camera store that I made after the B&H order so canceled the B&H one - decided it wasn't worth the time to resell but I wouldn't be surprised at a frothy resell market for these for a month or two. Availability outside of B&H seems pretty good so check local camera dealers.
Anyways will look to enjoy mine - good luck to everyone looking to get one.
As another data point if it's helpful for anyone, I ordered a silver VI from BH and had my order in at 1003 PST- confirmation email shows 10:04pm. I realized that I should have ordered black because I could use my thumb rest and filter/accessories from my black x100V so ordered a black one, confirmation email was 10:08pm. I hoped they would both be available and was going to cancel the silver or send it back unopened.
I don't know if BH's system is sequential but the difference in order #'s is 1651. The 10:04 confirmation email order has shipped, the 10:08 confirmation email order is marked backlogged.
FWIW, I got my x100V last summer and maybe I got lucky but I definitely wasn't going to pay more than msrp. I got on lists for local camera shops in late May and got my camera in July. I had the original x100 and no Fuji product since.

If I read you right, B&H sold 1,651 units - I know that's not just X100VI's but at that hour they were probably all for the camera - in just 4 minutes. They received 600 units in the first shipment from Fuji and the monthly production is 15K unit. Folks who are ordering the camera now could be in for a very long wait.
Adorama's website indicates that the item is currently on backorder, with an expected availability date of 06/01/2024. So, if you're placing an order now, about 9 days after the product launch, anticipate receiving your camera in June!

I expected that shifting production to China would somewhat solve this issue. However, even with production running at full capacity, Adorama predicts a three-month waiting period for pre-orders placed today. This situation is likely similar at B&H Photo. Smaller stores, particularly in Europe, are receiving very limited quantities. Once influencers receive their cameras and begin posting on TikTok, this situation could deteriorate further.
I am not sure I trust Adorama. Every time I preorder from them, it is a long wait. And their promised dates come and goes with nothing happening. I almost always cancel preorders from them. I won't do that again with them.

I agree that I rarely see Adorama backorder dates being correct (usually they are far longer than the date says).
The fact that it's the first of month smells like a placeholder and not real data.
Fuji only doubled output of the VI compared to the V. In the big scheme of things that was never going to be adequate to satisfy pent up demand for the V and new demand for the VI combined together.

It's too bad. Just seems like poor planning. There also are things they could have implemented to at least slow down the scalpers. Oh well. Not really that big a deal but it would have been my first camera other than a Sony in 10+ years.

I just spoke with a local shop in Seattle- The biggest Seattle shop but still-
They had over 500 pre-orders of the X100VI- They had over 250 in the first 2 hours of allowing them. That is crazy for this store-
