If I read you right, B&H sold 1,651 units - I know that's not just X100VI's but at that hour they were probably all for the camera - in just 4 minutes. They received 600 units in the first shipment from Fuji and the monthly production is 15K unit. Folks who are ordering the camera now could be in for a very long wait.
That's the way I interpreted it. But again, I'm guessing. I don't know BH's system. I think I'm going to cancel the order and just stick with silver, but part of me is curious how many weeks/months that four minutes later equates to.
Your not kidding. I just bit the bullet and paid over retail for it. I figure what the heck if I don't like it. It will not be hard to turn around and sell if the next wave is not till June.
Or maybe what's really appealing about the X100 series are its hybrid viewfinder, film simulations, and rangefinder-style looks, features that the Sony RX1 series lacks.

Mmmmm would be great if Sony launched an RX1 version of this

As a data point, I had an order at B&H 3 minutes after it opened based on confirmation and it still showed as backordered this morning. I did ask them to change the price from the regular to edu price after that was out so maybe that affected my place in line.
Luckily, I had another pre-order that came through at a smaller camera store that I made after the B&H order so canceled the B&H one - decided it wasn't worth the time to resell but I wouldn't be surprised at a frothy resell market for these for a month or two. Availability outside of B&H seems pretty good so check local camera dealers.
Anyways will look to enjoy mine - good luck to everyone looking to get one....Show more →
Thanks for the tip here…I figured I was just stuck at retail pricing but they adjusted me to EDU today!
Unfortunately I fell asleep around 11:45pm CST and woke up again at 12:30am and ordered then….so who knows how long it’ll be.

Yes, this.
Sony makes tech gadgets, not cool retro cameras.
But it seems absolutely nuts that Nikon, Canon and even Olympus (OM System), who have a long history of actual cool retro rangefinder-like cameras, are sitting on their hands doing nothing while they watch Fujifilm order sheets fill up.
Nikon and Canon could make a compact weather-sealed fixed lens full-frame cool retro 'street photo' camera that could absolutely compete with the Fujifilm X100 series for hipster dollars. And tall dollars too from regular camera enthusiasts who are lining up for months long waits for a X100V, VI. Not everyone has a desire (or the means) to spend $4k (used) to $6k on a weather-sealed Leica Q with a fixed lens. But plenty of people are lining up to spend $1400 to $1600, or even a little more for the X100 cameras.
Seems like such a missed opportunity from the biggest manufacturers.

I’m late to the party and just pre-ordered mine (silver) — so what am I looking at…. end of summer?
According to one of the major stores, you should expect to receive it in about three months. However, as many have pointed out, this is just an estimate because nobody really knows for sure.

I suspect R&D and new product development is pretty much dead at OM System. JIP the owners just seem to be doing the bare minimum to keep the pulse beating. That leaves Canon and Nikon. I'm not sure about the volumes they seek, but Canon might not get out of bed for 15 000 units per month. Nikon is a possibility because at least they seem willing to do something out of the box.

Where did you hear global pre-orders are 1,000,000? If my googling is correct there were only 8 million digital cameras sold in total worldwide in 2022, and 5.9 million ILCs.

Internet Actually a long time Youtuber who has some connection in photography industry, but he tends to run his mouth quite a bit. That's why the '?' behind the number. Take it with a grain of salt.
$2300+ plus tax is the current eBay price tag. This camera is worth more than an ounce of gold ($2054 as of today)
