My gosh, what a beautiful set of images!! I need to get off my chair and plan a trip here - your pictures add to the sense that I need to go!
Glad to see someone else using the longer FL's for landscapes. I use my 200-600mm quite often and am always pleased by what it creates.
Thank you, Al! Glad you also enjoy the telephoto view for landscapes!
The Smokies is a worthy fall location, despite the high volume of people and cars (traffic jams happen). The worst is Gatlinburg, driving through there in high season is a nightmare I won’t repeat, I always avoid it now.

Gorgeous Ross. I was supposed to be there about when you were (very end of October and beginning of November?) but family illnesses canceled the trip.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you both very much!
FuhTeng, so sorry you had to miss it, maybe next year?

Very nice shots! I particularly like the ones with the misty trees, nicely done.
GSMNP is on my list to visit within the next year or so, curious what would you say good months might be to target, when most things are open but not full with tourists? Thanks!

Thanks!
GSMNP is at its most photogenic by far in spring and fall. April is lush with fresh spring greens and delightful dogwod blossoms brightening the forest, and the waterfalls are flowing well. April crowds are not as bad as summer and fall.
October is amazing with the colors that start at high elevations earlier in the month and gradually progress down to the valleys by end of month. Yes there are a lot of people but IMO it is totally worth it for the glory of fall here.

That was very informative, thank you. I did not realize fall has more crowds, but it makes sense. I've read somewhere that March/April gets most of the snow. I will try for the fall. It's going to be either RMNP or ONP this fall.
