Sorry about the spam, this was my first time using a focal length over 200mm and first outing with the 300GM. I can officially say I'm extremely happy. All shots taken on the 300GM + 1.4TC.

Didn't see much this past weekend, but had a good time watching this Black Vulture. Usually just see them circling above or sitting on top of lamp-posts or telephone poles so it was nice to see one sitting a tree. It didn't fly away as I walked on the trail either.
I spent a good 20 minutes with the bird too.
Still trying to see if stopping down the 300 and 2x TC from 5.6 to 8.0 helps with results. I don't know, I'm just used to shooting more wide open to get shutter speed up and ISO down, don't know if its worth it shooting f8, I had plenty of light thought.
Is there someone down there taking pics of me? Let me fix my feather first!
Ok all my feathers are good now let me stretch my wings
And scratch this itch
Ok here take the pic I'm ready
One more wing stretch though
American Coots were out there too, always fun to see them
