I don't really see why anyone would buy an XT5 when I could have an A7RV. That is a puzzle to me.
My other system (typically used for landscape and sometimes wildlife) is a Canon full frame system on which I mostly use L class zoom lenses.
So the XT5 is the third in a series of Fujifilm APS-C cameras that I’ve used for the past dozen or more years. First was the XE1, the first in the XE series. I followed that with the XPro2. I left that hind and moved to the XT5 when it came out.
The XT5 is my primary camera for street and travel photography. (That was true of the other two Fujifilm bodies, too.) For that purpose it is quite small. It also came with the upgraded 40M sensor, it has a comfortable grip built into its small body (it is a lot more comfortable for long street photography sessions than my old XPro2), it has two card slots so I can mirror my captured raw files for security, it does not compromise on manual controls and I prefer them over the PASM interface for street/travel.
The Sony A7rV and the system of lenses that would accompany it are excellent tools, but they would comprise a somewhat larger and heavier alternative to my XT5 system.
On the other hand, a system based on the A7r5 (or more likely its next successor) is on. my short list of possibilities for eventually replacing my Canon system for the work I do with it.
is small rig the only company that makes thumbgrips right now for xe5? I received mine and I am not a fan of the location of the rest. I kind of prefer the ali express ones lol (I have one on my x100vi and I used to have one for my xe4). They are really solid and the thumb rest placement is more closer to the middle

Only ones I've seen so far. One of the reasons I started the thread.

Will the ones for the X-E4 work on the X-E5?
Well, cases and base grips won't at all. Base plates, I guess, would. Thumb grips would fit, but probably interfere with buttons and dials at the very least. The top plate may also interfere.

Base plates may, but only if they are generic and not camera-body specific.

If you shoot telephoto, the rig size and weight of X-T5 + 70-300 compared with A7R5 and 100-400 is significant. That said, I thought the X-T5 was too conspicuous (for me) to use casually in mixed environments like I would an X-E5, X-M5, or X100VI. X-T5 still looks like every other DSLR with a viewfinder hump in the middle. 20th century tourist cameras that every dad carried
Except a better comparison would be the 70-350 which is what I used for hiking. Which is smaller & sharper. The 100-400 is a way better lens than the 70-300 as well. So it's really not a good comparison. Fuji's lens selection is very slim compared to Sony's. Bottom line is I would never even consider Fuji if it was not for this X -E5's size. Otherwise I would stay FF.

The RV is Sony's best all around in my opinion! If they would not have handicapped the CR I wouldn't even be considering the X-E5.

Seriously? You can buy an RV for 2200-2400.
You can't really compare retail to used price, you can get an X-T5 on the pre-owned market as well. Why does it puzzle you that people might prefer a different camera than you? And maybe a cheaper one? Since you own one, why are people selling their A7RV for almost 50% of the original value?
Is this going to be another one of those “brand wars” threads where someone comes in and spends their time telling us why their brand is better than Fujifilm and only fools would buy Fujifilm crap?
I ordered the Small Rig handgrip. The X-E5 feels better in the hand than the X-E4, but for a long day, I prefer a deeper grip. No need for a thumb grip, esp since there are too many controls that grip would interfere with.
I generally don’t get/use cases, with the exception being my Leica. A bit too much money wrapped up in that camera, combined with my sometime carelessness in putting a camera down (plus the open USB port on the bottom).

The Small Rig hand grip is excellent on the X-E5. I think you’ll be very happy with it.

The handgrip and case don’t seem to be available here yet so I have the thumb grip arriving tomorrow.
For the X100VI I have both the SmallRig grip and half case but the majority of the time I use the half case in combination with the thumb grip which works well.

Going back to the original reason I brought that up. The X-T5 is not much smaller than an RV is. That was my simple point and for 500 bucks or so more you get a superior camera in almost every way. Doesn't mean the Fuji is bad. Heck I sold RV's myself multiple times for different reasons for around 2400. Doesn't mean it's bad either. Probably my favorite Sony body since the Rx1rii. Not everyone sells things because they think something is bad. As far as "value". If you think photo gear is an investment and your worried about resale value. Well, I'm just going to leave that alone for the sake of the thread.

Never said anything about buying camera as an investment. The point was that people minds/needs/wants change and everybody's end game is not the Sony or we wouldn't see it for sale deeply discounted (like everything else). I'm sure its a fine camera but it doesn't have anything I need or want. The weight and size savings in APSC is in the lenses, even the X-E5 isn't much lighter than compact FF cameras.

Please. No. Just stop.
Well, that is sure not why I started the thread. If you want to argue whether or not you need accessories, that's one thing.
Brands? Cameras are tools; use the one you like that works for you. I can think what you like, and use is a pile of dung, and your reasons for liking it are all BS. You can think the same about what I like and use. IT REALLY DOES NOT MATTER. Shoot what you like, who cares?
