Thank you! I remember seeing your gorgeous sunset shots of the F-22 at the London Show!
"NASA will mark America’s 250th anniversary with a series of special aircraft flyovers". There are six appearances on their schedule. Wednesday at Sun N Fun was their first appearance, then July 4th over DC, and Aug 23's Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington DC"
These are F-5s, according to Sun N Fun, not T-38 as some people thought. I am no expert. The jet in the first two pictures was flown by non other than Mr. Jared Isaacman, the current NASA Administrator. He was just in California to welcome the returning Artemis II astronauts....Show more →
Digging the new Paint scheme. Nice Captures.
Are those Clock Tower workers on the wrap around

Excellent images in both sets. You really made that backlighting work well in the first set!
Gero
Thank you Gero! I have shot some ospreys in April but the bald eagle season at Conowingo seems nearly dead, I haven't been there for the shad run.

Thank you! That's the control tower at Lakeland Airport. I bet those works had a great time getting closeup views!

Douglas, I am so glad you joined this group. Your photos are not only fabulous, but they also inspire us to kick it up a notch!
You are too kind, Ray! Photography keeps me sane, to some extend
The NASA team will fly in Texas according to their schedule below. I will definitely go see them in DC on July 4, if it does rain. I bet there will be a big flyover of military jets for the 250th anniversary celebration.
April 16: Sun ‘N Fun Aerospace Expo, Lakeland, Florida
July 4: Salute to America: The Nation’s 250th Birthday Fireworks Celebration, Washington, D.C.
July 23-24: EAA AirVenture, Oshkosh, Wisconsin
Aug. 23: Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C.
Oct. 3-4: Pacific Air Show, Huntington Beach, California
Oct. 31-Nov. 1: Commemorative Air Force Wings Over Houston Air Show
I have seen the F-22 demo maybe 30 times but first time ever at sunset. 28 hours of driving for 15 minutes of fun. To me, it's worth it, even without the air-to-air shoot which got cancelled. Here are some of the shots of the F-22 demo from Wednesday evening. More to come...

Thank you gentlemen! Really cute bunny, Gero! I haven't seen any this year!
Have a blessed Sunday!
Douglas..the reason YOU have not seen any so far is that they all are in my yard!!!!!! I have NEVER seen so many huge "monster" bunnies" in over 23 years here!
I have contracted Elmer Fudd to patrol my yard!
Great images Douglas....can't believe you drove all those miles and survived!!! Kudos!
Well done and "red bull" thanks you!

Very nice last set, Douglas. Looks like it was worth the drive!
Thank you Gero! Like I said earlier, I had never shot the F-22 demo at sunset, so it was special for me.

Thank you Dan! And thank you for keeping the bunnies! We have them here too but haven't seen them this season so far. Did see some Canada goslings today for the first time this year. My hummingbird feeders are out and my honeysuckles are blooming nicely, haven't seem them in my yard yet. They have arrived in Maryland for sure.

Thank you again!
For those who may wonder about the new watermark in the pictures I posted, MAS Cherry Point is imposing a 200mm lens restriction for entry, except the "media". I have never shot an airshows in a "media" capacity. It's strictly a hobby for me. So this time, I bought a website domain "afterburnervisuals.com", the name was one of the several suggested by ChatGPT. I own the domain now but haven't built the website yet. I also created a Facebook page under the same name. Then I took the chance and applied for a media pass. Miraculously, MAS Cherry Point approved my application So now I can bring lenses longer than 200mm. The new problem is, our church cell group will have a spring outing on Saturday, May 9, and May 10 is Mother's Day, same weekend as the MAS Cherry Point show. They have a nice lineup. I have a few more weeks to set my priority.
I just realized that in October, the San Francisco Fleet Week and the California Capital Airshow in Sacramento (a sunset show again) will be on the same weekend. I was at the California Capital Airshow with Bill and Jeff in 2024, but I have never shot the SF Fleet Week airshow. I can't think of a more iconic airshow picture than the Blue Angels flying with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Very tempting...
I had a hunch that you would not have a problem getting credentials, congratulations! The Good Lord will understand, go and exercise your new found authority and bring home some beauties.
And, BTW, you should consider it a compliment and an affirmation of your work. These events are besieged by photographers asking for special access, the privilege is not just given out willy-nilly. The powers that be saw what we all know, you are a spectacular photographer.
Did you ever anguish over buying a piece of photographic gear and then, with the first image, all that turns to pure joy..........yeah, me too.....................(20-35E)
