OK Jim, your photos are killing my rural internet loading your 400mp images. Think of a 1mp photo loading through a 1200 baud modem...

BTW, yeah, spectacular.

Thanks Joe. I wanted to break in the 20-35E so I went down to the Capitol building in Springfield Illinois and shot the rotunda. Thought the perspective and the detail would give the lens a workout. In the back of my mind I think the first hero shot with it might be the panel /cockpit shot in the 650ER flying into Norway at dawn in a couple of weeks.

And, BTW, you should consider it a compliment and an affirmation of your work. These events are besieged by photographers asking for special access, the privilege is not just given out willy-nilly. The powers that be saw what we all know, you are a spectacular photographer.

Douglas, I cannot think of anyone who has work more deserving of those credentials than you.

Thank you very much for the kind compliment, Jim and Joe! I will try my best! I still haven't figured out how to use the dual gimball setup to shoot video and still at the same time.

I was at Sun N Fun only on Wednesday, then on Thursday, the only flying F-104 Statfighter flew in, parked there for a few hours before flying back. I think it's based somewhere in Florida. It would have been cool to see something this rare.

I will have a busy airshow season this year:

Sun N Fun, FL

MCAS Cherry Point, great lineup, Blue Angels, F-156 demo, F-35 B and C demos

Naval Academy, only the Blue Angels, but it's 40 minutes drive from me.

Atlantic City: F-22 and F-35B demos, 3 hours from me, not bad

Reading, Pa, WWII Weekend, all warbird stuff

NAS Patuxent River, Blue Angels, F-16 demo, it's in Maryland, 90 miles from where I live.

Ocean City, MD only the Thunderbirds for now, it's 3 hours away from me. Have to see if they will add some performers.

Maryland Fleet Week & Fly Over Baltimore: Blue Angels and F-16 demo. It's only 30 minutes drive for me, so why not?

DC 4th of July: not quite an airshow but I expect a spectacular flyover for the 250th birthday

Jones Beach: Blue Angels, Canada RCAF Snowbirds, F-35C demo. About 4 hours drive one way and lots of tolls.

Geneseo Airshow, NY: F-22 and lots of warbirds. Kind of far from me though.

Rochester, NY: Thunderbirds, F-35B demo. It's 360 mile from me, need to think about it

NAS Oceana: Blue Angels, F-22, F-35C, F-18 demos.

All above are day trips for me. Red Bull will thank me. It's crazy to see the same things over and over but If I just do day trips, it will only cost time and gas.

And possibly San Francisco: Blue Angels, F-22 and F-35B demos; Sacramento sunset show: Thunderbirds, Canadian Snowbirds, F-35 A demo.

Fleet Week in SF is amazing Douglas, especially when a B2 does a flyby or a 747 circles the Golden Gate.

I know a few folks who still use AOL email account.... Crazy how a small company called Apple could wipe out big techs like Motorola, Nokia, Ericson, Blackberry just like that. Who knows what AI will do to the job market?

I need to put it on my bucket list! Just hope they won't have the government shutdown. None of the US military performers showed up for the SF Fleet Week last year, from what I heard. As of now, they have the BA, F-22 and F-35B. They still have plenty of time to add a few biggies. I read that car break-ins in SF are down somewhat, but down from a crazy high level. My daughter's rental car got broken into 15 minutes after she parked it on a busy street, the first time she even parked after she picked up the rental.

Yeah, I have avoided assignments on the west coast for just that reason. several photographers that I know were held up at gun point and had all of their gear taken while shooting from that vantage point across the bay where you get the bridge and the city composition. In California the victim would probably get arrested for putting up a fight.

Thank you Dan! And thank you for keeping the bunnies! We have them here too but haven't seen them this season so far. Did see some Canada goslings today for the first time this year. My hummingbird feeders are out and my honeysuckles are blooming nicely, haven't seem them in my yard yet. They have arrived in Maryland for sure.

We had snow yesterday morning! Covered the grass!

Had a VERY hard freeze last night and has "killed" all my azealas, rhododendrons, tulips blooms!
We are about 10-15 colder up here than you brother!

Stay well!

Hello All, It's been a while. Lots going on in NC lately....such as mother-in-law moving in. So my focus has been on moving and retro-fitting and not so much on keeping up with the world wide web or taking pictures. But I was able last Saturday to get down to Wilmington NC (KILM), which has become a bit of an informal military training location for a number of the Navy and Marine aviation units here in the mid-Atlantic. I was just lucky enough to capture a few F-35-B's practicing hot refueling. And there was also a restored Steerman which was giving rides.

I hope all is well with everybody!!!

I recall reading right here on FM few years ago that photographers at some popular spots got mugged at gunpoint. These people would kill a person like we kill a chicken. I don't know how these people were brought up. I have been to SF a few times, the last time I went as a tourist was 2016.

Last night I put my potted plants in the garage for the night. I think some of the newly planted flowers in the ground lost the young leaves.

We are flying to Portland tomorrow and are staying in the southeastern sub. for the night for the sightseeing of the falls on Thursday. From what I read, I have zero desire to visit the city of Portland.

I still use an AOL account daily. I also have a Comcast account. My AOL account is my longest consistent e-mail account. I can still remember how excited Steve Case was when the AOL subscriber count hit 125,000.

My other e-mail account (through the cable tv system) has changed numerous times as my local cable system was acquired by a parade of different owners until it ultimately was purchased by Comcast.

Don't knock old and reliable. Old and reliable just works, like my land line phone when the power goes out and cell phones and the internet cease to function.

Didn't mean to knock old and reliable at all. I was surprised since AOL as the business as we knew it doesn't exist anymore, how do they still provide email services? I didn't try to find out what the remaining pieces of AOL are still doing.

On a different note, I just saw this announcement from the Battle Creek Airshow:

"All Navy Demo Teams, including the Blue Angels, have received new orders for that weekend. They are being pulled from all previously scheduled appearances nationwide to support the Great American Air Show in Washington, D.C., as well as a major flyover for America’s 250th celebrations in New York City."

I kind of expected DC will have a huge flyover for the 250th anniversary. I heard the F-22 demo and the British Red Arrows will be there, now the navy assets too, maybe the Thunderbirds will join them too. I bet there will be B-1, B-2, B-52 participation as well. I will definitely try to make it down there for the fireworks and the flyover.

AOL used to be a "dial up" service with access through your telephone. Then the internet blew up and AOL dropped the "dial up" access as most people now had internet access.

Currently they operate like Google and others, as an internet-based service provider. You sign up and get a free e-mail account, and they in turn get another set of eyeballs looking at their homepage which contains news stories (and advertisements).
