I had a 300f4 before the fire that destroyed my home and all my camera gear. I replaced it with a 150-400 because of the flexibility of a zoom.
However.................
The 100-400 is still my go-to lens unless I am staying in one place.
The 300F4 is lighter and cheaper than the 150-400 and the images are equivalent to my eye.
The main limitation I have with the 100-400 is 25 f/s.

My plan would be to keep the 100-400 as I feel I have a very good copy and they're not worth enough as a trade in. So I would keep the 100-400 on one body and the 300 F4 on the other body. I think I'd rather go that way instead of relying on a tc for reach. Much more flexibility but of course I'm adding weight. Appreciate your input !
one thing is that the 150-400 is both bigger and also heavier than both the 300 and 100-400 but is well balanced and internal zoom which I like more and it is nice with the new 50-200 also and I was a little surprised that it has such a good closest focus distance 0.78cm and that is
nice
I understand that the 300 is interesting to you and as I said it works very well with the mc-14 and even the mc-20 is quite ok
In a world where money is not a concern you would want to have all lenes
40-150, 50-200 100-400, 150-400 and 300
you have to think about what to do
