I just got this beauty as an upgrade from my SEL70-300 and frankly speaking cannot believe what I see.
I took people's comments earlier with a pinch of salt, but the reality shocked me.
Such a sharp lens with incredible focusing on m A7III.
My best lens upgrade yet.
Waiting for my A9 now.
Some BIF shots during my trip to South Africa last few days.

Almost bought this lens, then almost bought the 200-600 - but ultimately bought the CY 100-300 for my uses.
Mainly because using AF for landscapes is hard for me, and I much prefer full manual lenses.
Anyways, here is one from Yellowstone taken yesterday. Some of the best shots I got were on Wednesday when it was -21 (with windchill was probably -32ºF). Was a balmy 17ºF when I took this one.

Interesting to me is finding not one but two of these in the used display Cade at my local dealer. Both traded in for the 200-600.
Not totally surprising I guess given which was available first...
I’m still noodling which to get. Now that there are good used copies available there’s no difference in price...

It might be the wrong impression, but it seems that there aren't a lot of 100-400 GM out there, or if there are, those that own it either don't use it much or simply don't share any of those photos here.
It would be great to get your honest answer to this poll.
Do you have some good shots taken with the lens? please share them here if you don't mind.
If you have it but don't really use it, please let us know why and what else you use instead.
Bonus questions: if there was a 100-400 GM for crop sensor, would you take that one instead?

For birding, it is too short, even on a crop sensor. Fro walking around it is too big. For portraiture, it is too slow.
I'm sure there are a lot of people that are very happy with it and that's all that matters.
I personally would never buy it.
