Thank you very much Luka for your kind and much appreciated comments
Hope you can go back to Italy in the near future!
Consider that I had the D7200 and the 16-80/2.8-4 with me, so I used the 16-80 for 24-30 mm (equiv.) range quite often. I used the 14-30 when I wanted to go wider.
Not many problems with distortion (auto)correction: a little bit of extreme corners' smearing.
Thank you! I added grain in PP
P.S.: all NEFs developed with C1 and then finally adjusted in CS6
Yeah I noticed.you also had D7200 with 16-8. I saw in your gallery. I have been debating between 14-24 or 14-30. It will take a while for me to decide, but I kind of like that process. How do you like C1 ? I tested between LR, C1, DxoPL, and in the end, landed on Dxo. Main reason for Dxo was that it does not need to import images to catalogue to view updates or addion to the image folder, like the Nikon software. I also did not quite like to have big database file eating up my storage. I liked the image quality of C1 very much though.

At present I own only Z lenses that do not have any equivalent F-mount sibling (i.e. 24-70/4 and 14-30/4).
I'll probably buy the 100-400 S IF it will be significantly better than the AF-S 80-400 VR.
When I bought the 14-30 (on May 2019) the 14-24 (announced Sept 2020) was not available.
However, I won't swap the 14-30 for the 14-28 because
i) the 14-30 is good enough for Z6 sensor,
ii) 14-30 is lighter and smaller (Z6 + 14-30 has the same size & weight, within +/- 10%, as D7200 + 16-80),
iii) f/4 is fast enough although faster is better (I have Zeiss 21/2.8 & 35/2).

I use Nikon Transfer and Nikon Viex NX-i for download.
About raw converters, I use Capture NX-D, DNG converter with CS6, and C1.
C1 is able to extract more details with less noise.
Love the Levels too: simple ed effective.
Sometimes the colors obtained by NX-D are better (to my taste).
I always convert the raw files into TIF 16 bit and then perform final (minor) adjustments in CS6 (sometimes using Nik Collection plug-in).
A very simple workflow.

Yes, if I stick with Z6 for next 5 - 10 years, then 14-30 is probably more than enough in terms of resolution especially for my use. I shall say to myself 'software correction is a good thing' every time I see distortion. Faster but light is the killer combo of 14-24. If it wasn't for that high price, I would not hesitate to go with 14-24.
I still love the 21/2.8 , but it is not wide enough for many occasions for me. From whatever reason, 35/2 never quite worked for me. I think it is the distortion that I get annoyed one too many time, but I love the 35/1.8 S so that is settled.

Thanks Riccardo for the detailed workflow there. It seems that you only use C1 for specific task, which makes sense as to not to creat a giant catalogue file. I do like NX-D and still use it at times. Limt is that I can't turn off the lens correction

Just traded in some gear for a store demo copy of 14-30mm, so I am checking to make sure I like the image and no obvious problem. So far, it seems good. Vignette right off from CO 22 does not bother me. Corners are fine, though at extreme edge it is.a bit softer, but not to the level that would drive me crazy. Size weight, and versatility of having 30mm end is quite attractive. I hope this is a keeper.
