Yeah, my eye is more drawn towards the portraits with some environmental context with or without some softness in the scene with a few blown out shots mixed in when artistically done. The 24-120 lens does provide "clean" images which I would not connect with the 28mm or 40mm SE lenses for example.
Last night I was 95% selling this lens. I compared the IQ again with some other lenses in my albums and now I'm at 85%. Thanks Scott .
Did you end up getting rid of the 24-120? I saw this post on Nikon's IG today, and guessed it was the 85/1.2 or 50/1.2 and was very shocked to see the truth
Hey Scott, no I opted to give it a year and see how things go. I haven't touched my cameras since Christmas (weather, energy, work, fitness goals, blah) so it's a bit out of sight, out of mind right now which doesn't help. I also appreciated your comment about my portrait shared in the sunflower field (I think you were pointing out the nice fall-off in the oof areas) and that gave me pause. Tough call.....first world problem but too many lenses and too little time. I need to retire and then there will be no debate.....keep them all and add a couple more
Big waves on the California Coast... I got hit at the hip by a wave while I was looking through the camera... almost dragged in, but the camera and I made it out... very wet, but still ready to make more picture

Thank you Robert...
It is very easy to get distracted when one's eye is behind the lens
cheers,

Reminds me of a time long ago when I stopped on a dirt road in AZ to shoot a javelina that had just come out of the brush. It was getting bigger in the viewfinder of my DSLR and thought I might have inadvertently moved the zoom ring. Fortunately I realized soon after that it wasn't the zoom ring, instead it was charging me!

I just picked up this lens recently, and I am consistently shocked by how good the quality of images produced are. This thread is full of examples. Just wanted to confirm my own experiences with it as well
