I finally found and purchased one of these this morning.
Biggest difference between this and the 24-70 f2.8s is in the corners.The 2.8 is simply the better lens here, but then again at its price it should be. The 24-120 corners are however considerably sharper than the 24-200. Contrast is also better than the 24-200.
A bonus is being able to use the 24-120 in DX mode and get a pretty good 180 f4 equivalent.

And I was over here impressed at the park sign shot...handed it to a stranger in full auto mode, almost no distortion at the corners/edges with the lines! Still very impressed with it at 24mm...only the moon is showing a little bit of distortion.
